i dont think it's been done too many times on here. and i remember that thread. if you'll read it most of us advised against it for several reasons
if you're dead set on doing it.......what kind of system are you wanting to put in? your design will vary on how many subs, amps, etc you're going to put in

I want to put my two 12" Kappa Perfects and a 1200 watt amp along with a cap in the back seat.Or i might just do a custom trunk enclosure.I'm not sure which yet which is why i thought i'd make a post to get some opinions. Trav

Finally I see some TREO's on here....
Dude tell me are they not the hardest, cleanest hitting subs you ever heard in your life or what.....
My single 12 Treo after I put it in kept hitting harder and louder for at least 2 months.... I just kept getting better.

I personally think you should stick to the custom trunk enclosure...better sounding, you don't lose a back seat, less likely to be seen/stolen. :)
But if you do, good luck :)

chain, that's not his setup, that's a post from quite a while ago. im not sure of the date, but i would say late 04 to mid 05.
i personally wouldn't bother with that kind of setup with just 2 12s. now if it was 2 18s :D
i would go with the custom trunk.

i'm doing the custom trunk with my car. because i would like to be able to carry a few more pasangers when i need to. sometimes i do sometimes i don't. it's an incovienence (sp?) and when you get it done you'll start needing to carry more than one extra person.. funny how it always happens that way lol. that's why i carry tools to work on my car in my car. it's never broken down.. except for that one time i had them out.. the flywheel broke.... but that was prob goin anyways so can't say that it atests to that fact lol.

a flywheel breaks and i would say 99% of people dont have all the parts/tools to fix it anyway lol

lol yea.. i had to get it towed to a shop and they replaced it. i only carry a 150 piece rachet set and a air tool set in my car.. just no compressor lol. but yea a flywheel is something that you can't fix on the side of the road anyways.
but back on topic, now that it is getting nice out.. i will begin my custom fiberglass trunk setup. it will be two seperate boxes for my 2 pioneer 12"s and two mono block 800watt pioneer amps as well, also a volfenhag capacitor and a seperate battery. the subs will be fiberglassed to the back corners of the trunk and the back middle of the trunk will house the two amps, capacitor and battery. then i will put a fiberglass piece all the way across it with holes drilled out for sound and air flow... that way i can put stuff into the trunk and not have to worry about it hitting the subs and fiberglass scratching it and damaging the subs. the plexiglass piece will be removeable for show.
also the rest of the trunk will be fiberglassed as well and it will have a removeable covering put on top of it with maybe some non-stick rubber matting inbetween. that way i can have a fully functional trunk and also be able to take the parts out for show and not have to worry about any scratches on the painted fiberglass or any damage to the subs/amps/cap/battery.
i will try to take pictures of the install as i move along with it step by step. though when fiberglassing it is often hard to stop and take pictures because of changing rubber gloves and stopping and takin pics.. and also the workable time with fiberglass resin. but i will do what i can. if i can get someone to help then i will be able to take pictures easily.
anyone is free to use this idea for their own. just be sure to accredit the idea as mine and not your own.

...btw, there is no breakin period with speakers, maybe over several (5-10) years, the spider might loosen up some, but other than that, its an all in your mind kind of thing. IMO, but dont take my word for it, we've been [link=http://forum.carstereos.org/showthread.php?t=59625discussing it at SIN[/link]
id like to try those treos, they look like a descent sub from the outside. how much do they run for a 10 or 12, im looking to do a ported system in my room.
