new HU?

I currently have a Panasonic CQ-C3300U, or a very similar model. The only problem is that when playing a CD, I can't go above 23 (of 40) on the volume without beginning to hear distortion in my speakers. With the radio playing I can go higher. I am assuming that the output isn't high enough, and I prolly need another HU. If that is the case what are some good recommendations?

When the CD going is it just as loud as when the radio is on? If not, there's a setting on most radios that allow you to adjust the gain of different sources. Check into that before assuming it's junked :)

Upgrade the wires from the hu to the spewakers it should clear it up. Or amp the speakers and upgrade wires, anywa let us know what else is up!
