Not sure on the 00' but on my 95 I hooked it up to the cigerette lighters light with a switch after the cig light and before the LED's. This way you can turn them on and off with the switch and dim them with the interior lights.

You can do it the way grandamsse said or you can hook it up to the dimmer switch on the dash. There should be a grey wire on that switch that you can tap into. Thats how i hooked up my reverse glow gauges so they would come on when the interior lights come on. I put led tubes under my seats and ran a wire to the front under the dash. From there i taped into a wire for the accent lighing. I dont know how it is for a newer grand am though. Do some searching in the forums about hooking up leds im pretty sure theres some info for it.

or you could get an add a circuit, hook it up with a fuse and plug that into your fusebox. With a switch this would be another alternative to those that were already listed.

^ I agree this is probably the best way.

If you have the cigarette lighter installed OEM & don't need it then I would remove it and use those wires for your accessory lighting, that way you already have fused (30A I think) circut. you could even istall your switch where the cig. lighter used to be. maybe I can post a pic of mine later.

^ either the add-a-circuit or else you can tap into the back of the cig. lighter (what I did).

I'd advise cathode tubes over LED's for under the seats, it would be a lot less messing around.

that sucks... I've just put some under mine, but no one has used the back seat. I tried to mount them where people wouldn't kick them, but I guess we'll have to see whether they last. I should also probably warn people about that before they ride in the back seat...

that's cool then. I've had my neons under the front dash for a couple of years now, with no problems :D I just recently put some CCFL's under the front seats for the back floor, I hope that they last just as long.

I had ccfls under the seats and they got broken so i replaced them with leds that were made for a computer. But they suck cause everytime the interior lights come on there always doing the wave and crap.

my neon bar is wedged above the heat vent on the passenger side and zip tied into place. talk about ghetto, but it doesnt move and is far enough in the corner the its least likley to get kicked...and you cant see it.

I'm looking to put an LED tube in my trunk.
Got it free b/c of a rebate when I got my stereo awhile ago.
Plus I don't have a light in my trunk.
Only downside is that the light is blue and my car is red, can't argue with free though.
So how would I go about installing this using the trunk light switch?
