Has anyone done this before? I would like to know how involved it is and if there is a step by step.

I got a Haynes manual for my 2000 SE. It has a pretty good r & r procedure.
Don’t want to discourage you but you did ask.
Loosen the lugs and axle bolt with the car on the ground. Lots of torque on that axle bolt. With the car on jackstands remove the wheels, brakes, bearing hub, tie rod ends and PIA steering gear. You also need to pull the ball joints and half shafts. Disconnect battery, all electrical and shift linkages.
Support the motor from the top. I used a steel bar chained to the top of the motor. This rests on to of the engine bay. (I used wooden blocks under the bar to avoid scratches).
Remove three tranny mounts (loosen the bolts but leave the passenger side motor mount connected, motor/tranny will pivot down from there).
Drop the subframe (K member IIRC). Lower motor/tranny until it will clear the unibody. Remove the tranny bolts and it should slip off. This will come out through the wheel well.
Reverse for install. Be sure to use a clutch disk alignment tool. If you do not get one with the clutch I used a 9/16 ths, ½ drive Craftsman socket. It took a little grinding to fit but worked great.
I would also replace the throw out bearing while I was in there so you don’t have to repeat this for a very long time.
For me this job required large amounts of beer and a good supply of cuss words. Maybe that’s why it took so long. haha.
BTW, this is the second time I typed this up, darned computers. Gonna cut and paste this time so I don’t lose it.
Make sure you have a good jack, that subframe and tranny are pretty heavy. And a helper would be useful too, wish I would have had one. They make a tranny jack but I got by with just a regular one. Pretty sure the 96 should not be too much different than my 2000. If anyone else wants to add something I forgot please do so. I'm writing this from memory and some of us old guys occasionally have memory lapses. haha.
Good luck
Craig

I'll second that... good price and I've had very good experiences with Carcustoms every time. The Spec clutches will come with clutch, pressure plate, ailignment tool, and throwout bearing/slave cyl.
