...that you would put in your computer. Theyre designed for 12V systems so i was planning on putting them under the dash. The were like $10 online at a computer store.

Problem is, they are the kind that cycle through different patterns, and the pattern to have them stay still is the last one in the button sequence.

I would want them to stay on without any fancy patterns, so any ideas how I could do this? I tried cutting 2 of the 4 wires leading to the LEDs thinking they were the control ones, but it didnt work, so now im back to square one.

The little control box just has a small circuit board with 5 resistors, a single diode, and 6 PNP transistors, along with what looks like a tiny control board for the patterns.

Should I just cut my losses and find new ones, or would anyone know a simple fix to make them turn on and stay lit. Any chance a control unit from a cathode kit would work?

Could just cut the wires from the control box & add resistors, then wire to your batt with a switch.

I have the same problem with my meteor lights. I plan on doing what redgrandam said to eliminate the box.

the only problem with cutting the wires is that there are 4 going to each tube.

I guess tomorrow Ill get the multimeter out and start doin some calculations.

Id just hate to have to scrap them since they only cost me $15 total, which is pretty cheap for 2 12" led tubes.

buy a bunch of blue led's and wire them in series w/ a resistor and drill a hole in a strip of plexi and build your own for cheap and make them as bright as you want..

oh, or just cut off the controller and apply the correct resistor/s

^ What he said.

Yeah if its 4 different wires, most likely theres 2 positive, and 2 negative.

oh good call. I havent been home to work on them yet, but ill remember that.

I was thinking there was a pos and neg then the 2 others controlled the patterns (which would also be a pos and neg i guess.

They're one crappy company if they dont know how to put postive on one wire and neg on another.. but oh well. lol

just did a bunch of testing with it, but finally figured out the wiring.

they split the light bar into 3 groups of LED, so theres 4 leds per group.

if anyone wants to know, there is one positive wires (the blue) and 3 negatives (red, black, and yellow). Now i just have to find out the correct resistor to use and then wire them up.

Does anyone have a good pic of how they mounted their neons, ccfls, or LEDs under the dash? I can find a good method, so i figure ill ask the GA professionals.

Uuuuuh... I had an LED plastic bar on the bottom and such.. it didnt work out cuz i kept kicking it with the gas/brake stuff. You cant really hide it very good. neither with the passanger. maybe if you stuck it under the seat it would look better.

yeah, thats what i was thinking, ill have to look at it better tomorrow to see if i can make a couple brackets.

heres a couple pics, theyre pretty bright, cant wait to figure out where to put them.

Interesting :-p But I think... I may have pictures around somewhere of my LED bars... I doubt it though... I'll post if I can find them.

Edit:
No luck bro. Sorry :p.

I had the pass. side tucked up nicely.

thats okay, i have all day tomorrow to work on them some more. thanks tho.

I think... if you stuck them between the plastic part where the glove box goes down, and the metal piece, just put them to the metal piece, they'll fit good enough. You'll find out soon enough :p

Here's my drivers side. I used a self-tapping screw into the plastic. This tube is 20" long.

Zip Ties? Self Tapping Screws? Eh? I just used electrical tape. lol... didnt want to come off after either. but mine was only to see how it would look... didnt really like it so I took it out. :)
