Ok well what do you guys think, I'm in the process of rebuilding my 60k mile 4t60e... I have some worn valve body issues such as tcc shudder, and a hard 1-2 shift when cold, also noticed some other noises at different times. This is whats going into it and I was hoping for some feedback, or input on other possibilities.

Starting with a 1994 4WSW Trans, which is a 37/33 drive driven gear setup with a 3.33 diff, ending in a 2.97 gear ratio. Stock 1650 stall converter.

Changes,
New valve body with sonnax TCC updates
Installing Trans go Shift-Jr Kit
Overhauling trans with Trans Star Premium kit with raybestos clutches
replacing stock converter with HD PDQ 2300 stall converter
changing out drive driven gears for a 35 35 set to end with 3.33 FDR
Removing 29 reluctor gear for 30 tooth one so trans shifts correctly (damn 95 flash ecm)
installing EP street version of their LSD.

Anything else I should think of doing?

Don't want to do a 5-speed swap?

too much effort on my car to do a 5-speed swap... and I can't find a donor in my area since I need part of the frame to do this. Trying to keep down time to a minimum too...

Oh...okay well...sounds like you got it all planned out.

You're getting a better FDR....LSD...Shift Kit. That's Good!

....ummm. How 'bout a Trans Cooler? You got one of those?

The Trans Drain Plug? That's a fun Idea.

cooler already there, and drain plug, very nice idea... I'll add that to the list... any tips on how and where to install that sucker?

Oh yeah I was also thinking of Type F fluid... Any comments on that one?

I'd just use the stock tranny fluid and change it regularly...which will be a snap with the drain plug.

Ummm...Mr Gasket sells a Universal Tranny Pan drain plug IIRC. It'll come with instructions....probably tell you the best place to install it.

Exactly how hard is it to rebuild a tranny yourself? I know where to get a book that shows you step by step, but from what I hear, they arent very easy. I'd like to get a 4T60 (not the electronic one) from a u-pull it and rebuild it to replace my crappy 3 speed. I know whats all involved in the actual swap, but just want to know about the rebuild. :???:

couldn't tell ya, I havent started mine yet, but so far I have played with parts from a spare tranny of mine and it doesn't seem to be all that difficult... as long as you have everything you need. Then again I'm pretty good at figuring things out.
