There was a chick who had some pictures of Borla exhaust on her car...

Ah it was the chick with the silver SE... I think, cant remember your name?

Technically shouldnt either Borla or SLP fit on these cars? I mean the stock exhaust piping is identical from the cat back on either 4 or 6 cylinder cars isnt it? Downpipe should probably even be the same but that isnt important here.

However I wouldnt recommend SLP for the LD9 unless you are doing some boost or more major things. If you just have a intake, and then put on the 2.5 inch piping, your going to have a decent amount of low end power lost, and your fuel economy will probably get worse.

yes, the cat flange is the same, but Im thinking about obstructions after that. They should both work, but I'm more confident with the SLP. If the Borla fits then I'd go that way because it's 2.25" piping which would compliment the 2.4L better then the 2.5" of SLP.

Ah, never thought of the cat flange. Good point Paul.
Do you happen to remember who had that silver SE with the Borla though?

Brad, I'm not sure who that was. It does sound familiar, but I can't remember.

Nick, search the web, you should be able to get it for $650 or so...not sure if you were planning on buying from Borla, but $770 is insane!!!

Ah, maybe it was Mel's car?

edit* changed to link instead of direct-linked picture, in respect to pg 1 of the site.

Yeah Borla can be quite expensive, for 2.25 inch catback it would probably be almost cheaper to go custom?

2.25" pressure bent, stainless steal, borla muffler and resonator, and labor, would probably be about the same...maybe a little cheaper.

Yes, I remember Mels car now...very nice :)

I wonder if the 2.4 kit would work on a pre 99+ GA with the 2.4

Ive got a 97 GA with the 2.4. The only thing I could see not being exact is how the piping before and after the axel is bent

As far as I know it won't fit your 97.

As far as the 99+ GA's, both borla and SLP will work with the 2.4L. I don't know about the 2.2L ecotech but somone said that Tenspeed has one so it must.

I have the SLP cat back on my '02 2.2L Ecotec.

As far as I know, any aftermarket cat back will fit on any 99+ Grand Am. The flange, the hangers and the path are all the same. Some cat backs have larger piping, the SLP has 2.5 inch.

I didn't notice any difference in performance but I don't hammer it either. There was a increase in the noise in the cabin and I got better MPG's because I was shifting sooner.

Both the Borla & SLP catback kits for the 99+ GT (V6) will fit the SE with 2.4. I'd advise against the SLP... it would sound awful on a 2.4. The Borla sounds fine on the 2.4.
