.im thinking of swapping the engine out in my 94 se and i would like some info on the 3100 v6 lg8. everywhere i look i get a diff answer and im not sure which to believe. i also would like to know price if possible thanx alot guys in advance.

have you tried looking at a junkyard for a grand am? i have heard that a lot of junkyards get grand ams.... but i dunno for sure. check it out you might be able to get one for around 500 bucks. that's what i've heard the newer 3400's go for at junkyards....

The LG8 is the newer 3100 found in 2000+ GM cars (2000 Grand Prix SE off the top of my head). It's basically an upgraded L82 used in 94-98 Grand Ams and is nearly identicle to the LA1 (3400) used in 99+ Grand Ams.

L82: 155 HP @ 185 lbs/ft of torque
LG8: 175 HP @ 195 lbs/ft
LA1: 175-185 HP @ 205-215 lbs/ft

You can swap a 3400 in as easily as the 3100. However, I'm not sure what all is needed to have a car that came with a 4cyl to run a 6cyl engine assuming this swap is for the car in your profile.

idk if ima do this ne time soon kinda saving for moving and what not.
i just wanted to know some info cuz im trying to learn little more about my car now that i just spent 1100 on if for repairs lol. im sorta stuck with her even tho shes never done me wrong lol shes pretty too i need to take pics and post her on here cuz shes stock and all but nice looking.
