Well, I was backing into my garage, and it just died. I tried to start it and it wouldn't start. I figured it was the fuel because it was at 1/8 a tank and i've had problems with it reading incorrectly when its low. Well it still didn't start, so i move to fuses. Nope, all good. So i check for spark, and there is spark. So i listen for the fuel pump to kick on. it kicks on. Any ideas?? right now i am trying to reset the computer by disconnecting the battery for a few hours. Anyone know how long it takes to reset?

when you turn the key does the car make a clicking sound? the statred motor is what provides the first spark so your engine can turn over if it aint clicking the motor is dead

accualy, the starter rotates the engine to get the initial momentum going, then the cylinders fire and off you go.
if you dont hear the starter turning try jump starting it with another car. if you still dont hear the starter turning while your jumping it, its your starter.
if it starts by jumping it, its either your battery. if it dies later, then jump starts again, its your alternator.
other wise it sounds like something with your feul system (if your sure its getting propper spark).
if you dont know what a starter is (or starter motor), you probably should take it to the shop. and be carefull if you have never jump started a car before, you can fry your car and/or the other car's electrical.

sounds like a fuel problem. just because you hear a clicking from your fuel pump, doesnt mean its working properly.

My step-dad checked it for spark and everything. I think i'm gonna have to take it in. He said if the computer resetting doesn't fix it we'll have to. He thinks the problem is between the pump and the engine. Maybe a relay. ??? I'm not very car smart.

Good news. It was just a wire that came unplugged. It still costed $30. I guess when i changed the alternator 6 months ago, i loosened the wiring to my fuel injectors. I'm assuming that the small lip on the edge of my garage caused the wire to just loose contact. I drove around 6 months with no problems though. I fid it kinda strange.

I know this appears to be a closed thread, but I had to share some of my experience with this topic....
Typically, the starter does not cause the car to die during use (usually the car just won't start up again).... BUT, there are some unusual moments.... My '84 Camaro had a loose and corroded connection on the started and intermittantly would loose power while driving (even on the freeway). Pop that bad boy into neutral, hope the car got electrical in a few seconds, start it and back into 4th or 5th gear I go.... Scared the crap out of a friend of mine once like that :D
I also had an '84 Buick Century that had the iginition module die while I was idling through a parking lot (so the car quite getting spark). That sucked....
Had to share :P
