Hey, can anyone give me the part number for ordering the monsoon rear speakers? I've seen posts where people have bought them from gmdirect, but I cant find them. Everywhere I look, I end up with dead ends. I would even consider purchasing non-factory speakers if someone can give me the model and place to buy them (and they are the 2/4 Ohm piece of doggy doo doo). I am not looking to upgrade my whole system and think the stock system sounds "good enough" (eventhough I could use a good sub). I tested the pioneer speakers that someone said they got working, but they were just not enough. I also tried to use an old eq/amp that I had from years ago, but that didnt work out either.

Any help would be appreciated!
TIA

I have been searching as well... I can find some on ebay , but they go for 70 bucks a piece. You are better off buying some midrange pioneers on ebay for like 40 dollars a pair. Only prob is they will be 4ohm and run at 1/2 power causing you to loose a lot of bass. So, you should also purchasing a basslink to handle lows. Also, you won't believe this, but if you hot glue the monsoon speakers to repair a blow, it doesnt sound that bad. Take a look at their cheap p.o.s. speakers. From the center spanning out a 2 inch radius is this really flexible rubber. Mine blew at the center (disconnected from where the tweeter is) and since it has the extremely flexible rubber, the stiff hotglue doesnt affect it too badly (just try to use as even of coating of glue as possible.

Last fall I already did the "glue" thing. I acutally used elmers glue and put a nice bead around the surround. It held for a while, but now is starting to vibrate again. I just did the pioneer thing last weekend (thus resulting in my other thread). The pioneers sound great for the highs, but I couldnt see them working the lows. Not enough bass to em and they would be a pain in the butt to install (seeing how they would have to be mounted to the deck and not the frame). I am not ready to dish out the bucks for a sub yet, so I was hoping someone could point me to the factory replacements. Right now I'll deal with the rattle until I can find something, but might just end up going to sub and disconnecting the lows in the deck... Hmmmmm, that might work..

I bought the entire speaker setup off E-bay a few months ago... The speakers came off a 2002 Grand Am GT. The model numbers I have here are.........

4"x6" door speaker 22679882
sail panel tweeters 22614738 and 22614739
6"x9" rear deck 09386529

I am not sure if the speakers are considered "Monsoon", as I never saw the radio and I think it would have said "Monsoon" on the front of the radio.
Hope the numbers help you out..... I don't have any other numbers, because the speakers are all wrapped up in bubble wrap and put away in my brother-in-law's attic; I don't have any storage space here, lol..... So I boxed them up and have them in storage....

I cant find that partnumber on the web (6x9). I did manage to find someone saying they ordered theirs off of gmpartsdirect.com using the number 22698418. The problem is that it does not show the picture of the speaker or give a good description. I checked with my local dealer and the retail prices match up. So I sent gmparts an email asking to verify that it is indeed the speaker I need. Just waiting for the response now..... I'll let everyone know if/when i get an answer..

OK,
I ordered my speakers and they came in just fine. I ordered them through gmpartsdirect.com. For those who want to replace the factory speakers, here is the info:
Order Detail:

PART NO. DESCRIPTION PRICE
*22698418 SPEAKER $32.45

Handling and Shipping:
$15.58 (i bought 2 of them)

Removed the old ones and installed the new ones within 15 minutes!!!
It sounds great again... no more pfftftftfthpthpfhpt on the base!

Oh, BTW.. ordered it on March 30 and it was received Apr 12 via DHL. It takes them time to process and order it cause they consider it a special order (the * by the partnumber). No refunds on the special order, but it is just what the doctor ordered for my GAGT!

Awesome; glad all worked out well... I wonder if that is the exact same model number for my 2000 GT1? I'll probably replace mine some day too.... I'm just wondering about the ohms, and if that model number is for my year Grand Am.
