ok im buying 2 12" pioneers premier 300spl
im looking at making a custom box for it. im looking at getting 2cuft per sub ported
my L7 box was custom made by a kid i went to school with which i no longer talk to.
i measured my trunk and im looking at a box total diameter of 34w X 15h X 20L
will it be big enough for the subs and port?
how big will the port need to be? im leaning toward a square/rectangular port.

what do you want the box tuned too? For daily driving you probably want it tuned a bit lower. Somewhere between 30 and 35Hz. You probably won't get 2 cuft. for the two subs with thows dimensions. you will get somewhere around 1.7 -1.8 cuft internal.

i can prob go a little wider i believe i have a total of 38" wide in my trunk. 15" is the max height before i hit my 6x9s and 20" is from the backseat to where the trunk opens.
if i end up with less then 2cubed then fine. it will be a daily driver im think 35hz. i think the L7 was tuned to 45.
Well....if you do 38 wide....you have about 5.3 cubes total...thats based off of inside dimensions too. Should be plenty of room. Heres a program I like.

Just play around with it a bid and you'll get the idea. Enter 2 dimensions and it will automatically do the 3rd. It automatically figures port area too. Just remember Net is after all displacements. So enter 2 cubes...it will add for port and sub. It'll even lay out the box and give you cut sizes. Stick betweeen 30-35 hz as said before and you'll be fine for a daily set-up. Always use option 1...I dont like #2. :)

sometihng you should remember with pioneer subs. the thing you need to remember. is that pioneer subs sound much much better in smaller boxes. if you max out the volume of the box to the max specs for the sub you'll get great sound but if you cut that in half it will sound much better. i don't know why but this is from personal experience with pioneer subs. they've always seemed to sound better and hit harder in smaller boxes.
edit: i have 2 pioneer premiere 12's in my trunk.. i had a box that was almost at the max of volume each sub could handle. i ended up cutting it down 3 inches off the back because the box was too big and i could barely get it in and out of the car (to get to spare tire if needed). after i cut it down it hit harder. and yes i did seal it off.. i fiberglassed the back piece to make it a perfect seal.

ok sorry to raise a dead topic but its time for me to do my box. its going in the impala. 2 12" sub i want 1 port in the middle. i was playing with the program u suggested lash but it doesnt do middle port. so what should i do?
Move it to the middle and put a divider in it......like a "T". So if you have a width of 2" from the program (example).....make the port opening 2 3/4" wide in the front with a divider down the middle (all the way to the back of the box...you dont want the 2 ports to join anywhere). Then branch it of each way inside the box with a 1" wide port. Get it?

Lash, with that program, where does it say to place the sub? or should it just be on the side where the port exits?
Put in on the same axis as the port (so put the port and sub facing the same way)
