Hello,

Anyone know where I can get a custom vinyl made in the font and text that I want. The kind that u put on the top, inside of your windshield....

How are those things applied anyway, just glued on?

Thanks

If I want tints, do i need to apply them before or after the vinyl sticker? Or does it not matter at all. I don't know how tints are done.

Tint goes on the inside of the window. the decal goes on the outside. Just dont hit it with your ice scraper ;)

And these things can withstand our Canadian winters? Lol, it's stronger than the cars then. Damn salt!

yeah, just make sure the surface is free of any kind of treatment or grit. If its a vinyl decal it should easily last your winters as long as, like mike said, you dont hit it with the ice scraper. :thumbup2:

that has to suck, mine i believe was 29 shipped, custom font and reflective. Has tons of fonts to choose from also, not just 5 or 6 and plenty of colors. I searched for weeks for a good place and found them, definitely suggest them. Also bought some other decals from them, also can do custom vinyl.

Thanks for the site, Allen. Very impressive prices for custom decals. So I decided to purchase a standard Pontiac vinyl for the top of my windshield, and right under that vinyl im gonna get a thin one of about 3inches reading Red Barron, since my car is red and the name is cool lol. :D Do I need to buy that bottle of adhesive stuff that they sell on the site to apply to vinyl?

ok so here's how you PROPERLY put on vinyl...

-first off, a hair dryer or heat gun is recommended to help dry the vinyl to the window, see more about this in the end of this post

-it should be at least 65* out, and not going to rain for at least 24 hours

What you need to do is clean the whole area that you intend to put the vinyl on with rubbing alcohol NOT windex or any other window/glass cleaner... This will remove any windex/rain-x/windshield washer fluid residue, as well as dirt. Then you need to have a mix of water and dish soap (a few drops in 20oz of water should be fine) and you want to put that in a spray bottle. Then you want to spray the area where you are putting the vinyl on.

There are 2 pieces of paper that the vinyl is inbetween. One that has the colored lettering, and one that has the back of the vinyl. You want to peel off the side that has the back of the vinyl on it so that you expose the back of the vinyl where the glue is. Once you have peeled off the back, you want to spray the whole thing down with the water/soap mix that you made and put it on your car (you should spray the windshield right before you put this on). The vinyl should be able to move around as you should have enough liquid on there for a few moments to adjust how you want it. Once you have figured out how you want it, you need to take a squeege and run it over the letters. (not a squeege like you'd see at a gas station...see my other note at the end of this paragraph) This will remove any air bubbles and ensure that all parts of the vinyl are going to stick to windshield (vinyl / tint guys know what im talking about, and if you dont, go to the parts store and ask for a squeege that you would use to put tint or vinyl on... it can be about the size of a credit card, and usually made of rubber w/ solid edges).

Now that you have it where you want it, and all the air bubbles are out, give it a couple minutes to sit on the car and start to dry. Once that is done you can carefully start peeling away the top piece of paper that is still covering the vinyl. If the vinyl starts to come up, you are going to have to go over it again with the squeege to smoothe it all out. Once you have the paper off, you need to let it sit in the sun for a couple of hours to make sure it has dried. (you should do this when it's at least 65* out)

Having said all that, if this is your first time applying vinyl, i would suggest that you take it to a professional (or have someone come over to your house that knows what they are doing), cause to be quite honest (and its no slam on you) it is really hard to get it right and not **** it up... i've spent quite a penny in vinyl before i got it down right

as a vinyl installer myself the instructions above are pretty good. The only thing I would add to this is it doesnt need to be 65degrees a hairdryer or prefered heat gun will warm the vinyl to help it adhere to the glass. Also dont us to much soap in the water ( a couple drops in a sprayer bottle will do them shake to disolve it. Spray glass throughly to keep vinyl from sticking to early. THen squeegee the whole graphic out starting from the middle and working outward cover the graphic mutiple time untill water stops coming out from under the carrier material. Give it about 30mins to an hour dry time before peeling carrier off. If there are any small bubbles that you miss use a needle pop the bubble ( just a little prick is fine) push water out. Then the sun will take care of the rest. Any other questions of if you need any graphics just let me know. I'll be happy to help anyone out.

My wife purchased her '00 GAGT brand new when she was 19. And no, Mommy and Daddy had nothing to do with it. In fact we had been living together for years prior to her even purchasing the car.

After about three years or so it does take it's toll. Ours have been through all types of weather and it lasted pretty well.

Just prep the glass well. Clean it with some dish soap and rince well, that or alcohol. I'd make sure you let it sit for a few days before using your wipers if possible.

Also to incress life use Rain-x on the windshield after you apply the decal.

A windshield treatment like a wax that helps water bead up so you can basically drive in the rain with the need of your wipers.
