Im getting a Pioneer DEH-P680MP CD/MP3 Reciever.

my car's stock wiring has 2 illumination power leads.
1) dash light (illumination) [Solid orange wire]
2) dimmer [orange wire w/ white stripe]

my deck has 1 illumination lead
1) Illumination [orange wire w/ white stripe]

I'm assuming im supposed to connect the illumination (#1) with the deck illumination lead, but i want to know if i can just use the dimmer lead instead, or will that damage the unit because it reqiuires a constant +12v for illumination?

should I cap off the dimmer lead and stick with the solid +12 illumination or can the dimmer work?

when wiring up the harness match everything color for color. if you don't have corresponding colors in the harnesses, tape them off and don't use them.

Your car itself only has one illumination wire for the stereo harness, and it is dimmed. Some of the aftermarket stereo harness plugs on the market have 2 illumination wires. One of mine was like that. Look at the car side of that harness, one of those 2 wires will not exist on the car side of the plug. Use the other one that does exist on the car side.

I checked my wiring and there are 2 wires :?

another quick question.

I want to double check my polarity, both speaker wires that came with my pioneer speakers are white, but onehas a black line.
