if your radio has a ipod wire(usually runs into the back of the radio) i would just run the wire into your glove box, and keep you ipod in their. Most of the ipod ready radios control the ipod from the radio itself, so having the ipod out isnt necessary.

I have a stock radio. But heres the thing, Ive done a TON of research and no one has put a custom dock in a 2004 pontiac GA. I have an ipod dock that has all of the placement for plugs relocated to the back. I dont want to put it in the glove box, and I want to keep the docking station hidden under the mount. (were ever it will go) So it will look as if the ipod is plugging directally into the car itself, via dash, center consol, etc.... Thank you all fro the help so far.

Well as far as getting the signal to play through the car, thats pretty easy. PAC as well as US Spec has a GM auxillary plug. Somone had a post about the PAC peice not too long ago.
Mounting...the only thing I could come up with is to keep it factory looking some sort of fiberglass work molding the dock into the area infront of the shifter, or in a cupholder? I'd have to see exactly what everything looked like first.

Does anyone have the wiring layout for the back of the stock head unit and how to wire up an Ipod in and possibly a circuit to provide power to the ipod to charge it up.

I've been trying to work out a way to use the under side of the center console compartment in my 04. If you flip it up there's a seemingly useless space that would def. fit a nano and it would be totally hidden and you could easily mod it a bit so that when you flipped the lid up you could manually control the iPod. My 3rd Generation iPod doesn't fit there though so I just sit it up in the cup holder with the cord running behind the dash to my Pioneer deck and to the charger.
As far as what you're looking to do, you could certainly fiberglass something around the dock in front of the shifter, but as far as hiding the dock I don't see a ton of options. The only place I can think of is cutting a hole big enough to slide the dock through right above your right knee if you're sitting in the driver's seat so that the iPod would be facing you and you'd just see the front of the dock up to where the iPod plugs in. I'm not sure what the clearances are back there though, or if that makes sense to anybody but me.
It's a good project though, definitely keep us updated if you figure it out.
Here are a couple of threads with some info on hooking it up:

I do know what you mean! Awesome idea. I’m going to try and put some pics up of the center console and the dash. Again thank you all for the help. I’m going to start logging my project on http://justinsipod.blogspot.com/ when I actually get started, but for now i need the expertise of the grand am owners club!
