What I currently have to put up Front:

Speakers:
mb quart 6.5" Coax qm 1116 kx

component set (qm 2213 ms)
mb quart 5.25" qm 130td-s
mb quart 1' qm 13hx

Qlogic kick panels (I reinforced the qlogic kick panels with fiberglass (three layers) and sprayed the backside with sound deadener.)

Speakers baffles for the 5.25" & 6.5" (I sprayed them with sound deadener)
Lots of dynamat (to cover the door)

With all this I ran into a few problems and my grand plan quickly fell apart! I wanted to put the 6.5's in the qlogic but the will not fit.

My solution was to put the 5.25" component set I intended for the doors into the q-logic's. This would move the 6.5" coax set into the doors.

So I have 2 questions. 1. Is this looking like a good front speaker setup? 2. Should I get another set of tweeters for the sail panel where the stock tweeters are located?

Any suggestions would be great. I am eager to cut up the qlogics and mount all the speakers!

On a final note, maybe I have overdone it with front speakers!...LOL

Thanks,
BrewMaster

what are speaker baffles for?

Well, I can enclose the speakers with speaker baffles, or build some enclosures with fiberglass. Baffles are cheap & quick.

The point is to provide separation of the sound waves and hopefully provide some protection from environment (water/dirt).

I have used them before and it worked out well.

6.5" MB Quart RCE-216.... I had to do a lot of work to make it fit behind the door for a stealth install.

If you want the details, I will post the process I went through.

I can also post pics of the rest of my system if anyone wants to see it..(RCE-268's in rear deck....subs...amp rack..ect)

RCE-268 in the original 6x9 case. I had to add a plexi adapter. I am happy I did not get the RCE-269's.
I added speaker baffles under the RCE-268's as well. I had to do a little cutting on the baffles to make it fit overtop of the trunk cross links.

I would just use the stock tweeters they actually sound great when they are drivin harder than the monsoon can. I have 6.5 infinitys in the door and used the stock tweeters, fed them with 80watts per channel rms. With a good clean source they sound nice. Do your windows go all the way down with the speakers in the door? I had to go with slim mount 2" or they hit the window track even with a 1" adapter plate. Are four tens enough I would have made it five. (just kiddin). I have two twelves and two boxes of dynomat extreme and I still have the trunk lid vibrating.

The tweeter in your kick is aimed pretty badly.

@AAS: Can you make the trunk close tighter? I haven't really done any audio work to mine yet so I'm not sure.

Yes it is...I have installed the angle mount that came with the mb quart kit. I will get some new pics up of the new mount.

It now points towards the interior light on the middle of the headliner...

When I do the time delay/crossover/gain tweaking it may need some more angle movement.

One good thing about the mb quart coax (on my 6x8 and 6.5"), you can change the angle of the tweeter....lots of tweaking!

I cut the window track. The windows will go down more than 3/4 of the way before they bottem out on the speaker baffels. I did not have to cut the track, its soft plastic, not metal....but it put stress on the hole assembly.

If I did not do the baffels, the window would of gone down all the way.
