Well the Jimmy is going to need new tires. Oh the fun of tire shopping. :D Looking to some opinions or any experience anyone may have had with tires. The Jimmy in my winter vehicle and driven if the weather is bad in the summer. I am thinking about getting winter only tires for it in the fall but want to put a good traction tire on it all year around that way if I don't get winters this year I will still have some grip. Wanting and aggressive looking tire. (Don't like the car tire look on a 4 wheel drive) Here is what I am thinking feel free to mention anything else.
BF Goodrich All-Terrain T/A KO Now this tire meets severe snow service requirements and would look good on the Jimmy. But I have heard that is not the greatest in slush, and when it gets down to half of its tread it loses a lot of it traction, or that is what some have told me.

Another one is the Bridge-stone Dueler A/T Revo, nice looking tire. It is ranked #1 on tirerack.com for on/off road tires. It also has UNI-T AQII Technology that is suppose to give it good traction when it wears down, something to do with the rubber compound.

If I was to get a winter only tire it would be the Cooper M/S good winter tire. Anyway just looking for some input, I like to look at all my options and do research. Never been one to go cheep on tires after all out of all the safety features on a car/truck it is the only one that touches the road.

If you want a good, cheap tire, go to Walmart and get some Liberator All Terrains, had a set of 31x10.50 on the bronco's and a set on the S10 and they have done an amazing job and tread wear has been great.
but, Can't go wrong with the BFG's!

... buy a set of winter tires Greg as the majority of travel SHOULD be done in the winter time, that is how you should select the tires IMO :)

I hear you Kelly, the Jimmy will see some summer use. Mainly when I want to go some were that requires me to use a dirt road or one that I will not want to take the GA down, or towing the trailer. Done some more reading on the BFG and a lot are saying it is getting good snow traction plus it was rated for snow. I would put the same cooper on it like what you got for winter but I have seen what happens to this with a few summer miles, I have yet to see a set that was has worn even. (Plus not white letter  Yes I know being picky) I also want a good tire when you think about it it will get driven for a good 5-6 months while the car is parked. Plus all the rainy days

check those tires out. We sell alot of cooper ATR's at work and even the STT 's are a becomming a bigger hit with the truck and SUV guys.
Nice agressive tread etc. hope this helps you btw you can always have the tire turned around so that the white wall is on the inside :)

Get the BFG A/T KO's. ;) Unless you want a dedicated winter tire. I never had any issues with traction in any conditions with mine.

I do like the BFG's, was going to call you Shanw and find out how you made out with them. They only thing I have with winter tires is they are usually soft and don't have much for a sidewall. Still looking at all my options might even come down to having two sets of tires. Still doing some searching.

... I stick by my original thoughts :evil2: ... at least have a set of "REAL" winter tires and if you want a set of summers, that is up to you but in your area and amount of snow, I wouldn't skimp :(

Winter tires dont seem like such a bad idea given use. I also agree with cory, just because it's wal mart doesnt mean it's junk ;) Not too sure if I'd have them mounted there tho  As far as the two mentioned, on test drives at work I have found the BFG to be better, the dueler never seemed like anything too special. But that is only based of a quick run down the road, not in bad weather and I cant say anything about tread wear.

I have a 02 Liberty 4X4. I have BF Rugged Trails on it. The tread is not as aggressive as the All-Terrains. Wal-Mart also sells Land-Terrains. The tread is in between the two that I mentioned.
