Hi there,

I am researching my options with my '97 GA GT. I have a 86 Fiero GT Fastback that is my project car with a great system, for my GA which is my daily driver I am hoping for:

- Leave the stock head unit in
- iPod interface options
- Upgrade the speakers with and/or without adding an amp
- Saving my truck space and sub install options, between the 6x9?

I may be lucky, so far with the MP3 CD's I have tried in the car, they work...but I am looking at an iPod for both cars, tired of packing all my CD's and changing them all the time...any suggestions on interface products, etc.?. Tring to save some money and not spend a tonne...the car is great as it is (except being black, I have detail work to do with a bad previous polish job).

Thanks

:D

I don't think that there is a way to get an ipod interface into your stock HU. You could go with the itrip which just takes over a radio freq of your choice and is cheaper. I installed an interface in a jeep over the weekend and had the wires and box under the center console and you plugged the ipod inside the armrest compartment (I impressed myself lol). we also put in 4 5.25" alpine type-s speakers in the stock 6.5"holes and rigged up some MDF adapters quickly. They didn't sound bad at all, especially for the price and you could amp them if you are interested. That's how I would go, just my 2 cents though

Wha's your budget? How loud do you want it to be? What kind of sound are you after? How often do you have rear seat passengers? Coupe or sedan?

Thanks for the replies guys...

I am looking at $700-1000 for sound, would prefer to leave the stock head unit in and add an amp, change the door speaker and rears...a 6x9 that has enough bottom end without getting a sub?, I like crisp clean sound as I listen mostly to alternative/rock, and enough power to have the windows down cruising. My Fiero I has a JBL 6 channel (600 watt), Infinity 5.25 2 way, JBL 4x6 rears (not much for rear), and a 10" MTX sub...it rocks, this is where I let me ears bleed on a cruise...lol

Again, the GA is my daily driver and if anything, would want to invest first in performance upgrades to the car but finding out it's tough to find aftermarket for a '97, most are for '99+.

Any suggestion for Canadian shops or sites where I can research, most are US based which I am used to with the Fiero.

Cheers

And I barely have passengers...even though I have a 4 door sedan, mainly to fit my bass & drum gear when I need to...so I like low end:D

Bang for the buck, MTX and Concept are my picks.

System wise - good seperates in front, cheap coax in back, a small sub, and either run the rears off the deck or get a decent 5 channel amp. Doing it all for $700 to $1000 CDN is possible if you can do most of the install yourself.
