Painting the hubcaps (Spray Paints Your Friend)

I was thinking either spray the outer ring black and leave the spokes silver or spray the inside black and leave the outside silver. There really scratched up and look bad so anything will help them. Heres a pic to give show you the hubs I have.

Take them off, clean your steelies and gets some dark green 1/8" pinstripe and go around the otter lip of the wheel with it. Make sure you take the wheel off to do it, it's much easier to make it smooth looking.

Painting the outter ring black and leaving the inside silver will make it look like your rolling on ghetto fabulous 13" wheels.

Oh my god... stop with the cheap ugly mods. People dont do it because they've actually thought it through. The dark green pinstripe = alot better. My friend has a jeep with 36" tires, and steelies, rather than the stock alloys, and he pinstripped them yellow to match his jeep, it looks awesome.

Steelies > hubcaps. However, you should look into getting a cheap set of OEM wheels form ebay. The beretta GTZ wheels would look good on that car, or even the stock 5 spokes from the GTs look good, too. Not to mention the 14'' sunbird rims

if you're going to paint them just take them off, sand them down smooth as glass and paint them with some silver rim paint. dont try and get fancy or anything with them. just paint them back silver and be done with it

custom painted stock hubcaps...ughhhh Paint them silver to clean them up, and give it a nice fresh factory look if your not going to go with actual wheels.

Oh I thought those were the Beretta rims. Still want to find some of them webbed rims. I know another car had them but they were really rims and not just hubs like the GAs. I've posted this pic a billion times but here it is again. If any knows the car that has the rims that looks like these hubs tell me.

I wish I had headlight covers. Oh wait. I went to the JY for parts today and found them hubcaps in the pic of the white GA but only bought one. I had planned on paying for four and going back for the other 3 so I didn't have to carry them around well looking for other parts and they closed and the guy said I'd have to come back tommerow. I got my drivers side underdash panel, HVAC knobs, two vents(All the car had and I'll find two more tommerow) and that hubcap for $5 bucks. I like them but they need work to. The chrome is starting to flake so I may have to paint them. Silver were chrome was and gray were gray was. Or I may just say screw it and leave them.

Like the PVC CAI, or if you were gonna paint your caps, were you even planning on it? etc etc etc

Yeah but I can say my motor is less than half that size, probally makes more power, redlines at 13,750rpms, five valves per cylinder, and will smoke it without even leaving 2nd gear.

Oh BTW I figured since those hubcaps were so cheap I try to paint one. I did all black with a chrome center cap. Should look ok. Figure it will be dry by morning and if it sucks I'll just by 4 hubcaps instead of just 3.

id paint the spokes gunmetal/black then leave the reast silver/shiny HOWEVER I feel they look good just as they are (just keep them clean, and keep your steelies behind them clean)

Thanks. I'm thinking of painting the outside lip silver. I'll probably be get rims in a month. I saw a car with some nice universal rims at the JY for a $100. I took one off the car and hide it in the trunk of another car. lol Figure no one will buy rims in a set of 3. I'm got the other hubs and will be painting them today.

Oh for the paint I used this flexy spray stuff for plastic. It keeps it for cracking.

I just redid my Aluminum pontiac rims.

They are almost 20 years old btw and look brand new. They came of my ex's fiero lol. I will be getting brand new 14 inch tires for them this summer. I figure the aluminum rims which are now a light gunmetal color will look good on my car with the blue lug nuts and some nice tires. I am leaning towards the cooper cobra gt tires with the raised white letters.

Doesn't look half bad for a spray painted hubcap Bill.

Try a mirror-crome spray for the lip and see how it comes out.

Make sure and gets lots of clear coat on them, rocks / debri are going to be a PITA on that paint job.

No they only crush totaled cars and shells. I really like them rim and it may have been jerky of me to do that but hey for what I spend on a set of sunbird or beretta rims I can have them and change left over. Little box. lol that would suck. And whats funny is the cavy the rims came of is a totally rusted out shit box on the outside. I tried to jack it up right in front of the back wheel and it went through the floor.
