if you want to save some time, go to auto zone, pick up a package of the color changing leds (194m) (package of 2, around 10 bucks) in the headlights area...

when your ready for the install simple pull up on the plastic ring that goes around the shifter and the area that says what gear.

next take a screw driver, there are 4 or so dark plastic clips, take a small flat head screw driver, and gently pull the clips out and pull up and wiggle the unit out of its hole (its some what tricky because there is a peice that you have to angle down, raise the other end up and pull out)

remove the yellow plastic peice under P R N D 1 2 3, take out light bulb, insert new led, i didnt put the yellow plastic peice back in, but you can if you want... i didnt like the looks of it and re-assemble.

its really easy... just sounds harder then it really is.

Does anyone still clear their 99+ taillights?

I still want to do this soon. I think there was a "how to" on an N-body site.

for the clearing your taillights thing will that work for an 01 se they have the same lights and all dont they?

RedGrandAm2003
05-06-2006, 12:41 PM
No they wont. SE lights have molded plastic. GT tails have plastic inserts than can be removed. SE tails have black horizontal lines through them, GT tails do not.

Thinking of adding a wing to my 96 ga. Any site with pics of what ga's look like w/them and instructions would help. Post or pm me please, i really would like to learn to do-it-myself. Thanks

In regards to adding an aftermarket spoiler, I'm not too sure how the bolt setup is in a 96, but i know in my 03, all I have to do to remove the spoiler is unbolt it, and there's 3M double sided foam tape that needs to be removed aswell. I'd expect its the same setup. As for what type of spoilers there are... you'd have to look around and find one you like... you'd have to imagine it on there... or use photoshop to put it on your car? Now that I think of it, a 96 doesn't have a spoiler in the first place.... so you'll just have to center the spoiler & mark the holes, drill them, and then bolt it on... of course you'll need some sort of foam tape to protect your paint if you want to... and probably would have to put some cocking on the inside of the trunk to prevent water leaks... even though it doesnt rain too much in SA anyway. :) Hope this helps
