fan in the air box?

What do ya mean ? This is a dyno proven 15 HP increase ! It's also great for sucking in bugs and dirt and giving the alternator more load . And add weight to the vehicle to boot . :cool:

I actually tried something like that on a V6 camaro I had a while back. I designed what looked like a small fiber glass box just large enough to house a few small D.C. fans (40 cfm,). The entire system was wired with its own set of switches and fuses. When I ran the car and turned on the fans, I hardly noticed a difference. The reason being that they wouldn't move enough air fast enough to make a difference in the air coming in to the engine at full throttle. Unless you plan to use very large and very powerful (500 cfm+) fans staged one after the other, and a big secondary electrical system to run them, don't waste your time or money. To get something like this to work is a very expensive ordeal and not worth the power in the end. Use your money on other upgrades instead.

For any real gains your going to want a fan that can flow more air than your thottle body. This way it doesn't just move air but compresses it a bit. IIRC, the throttle bodies will flow about 600cfm, give or take. I always see 'electric turbos' and such on ebay and they brag they flow 400cfms. I don't know what the big deal is about 400cfms because most any stock throttle body, even on a 4 banger, will out flow that. Shoot I think my .6 liter motorcycle out flows that through the carbs.
