Yeah that's the odd thing. My driver's side power window doesn't work either, but a few days ago when it was actually warm out again, it worked just fine!! Wtf!?!?!?!?!

did it work one day and just stop another? If this is the case it may not be just the motor. If it worked on and off for a bit then quit, I would say it's the motor

Take off the inside door panel (don`t forget that hidden screw under / inside the rubber door handle arm rest). Disconnect the harness. Do a continuity or resistance test on the two connectors going to the motor to see if its the problem or put a voltmeter on the harnes ennds & push switch to see if there is 12volts (if not its the switch). Most likely its the motor - condensation kills the insides.
However if there is power and termination on the motor - tap the motor to loosen the rust and it should work.

Sometimes temperature will affect the motor. The drivers side front in my 94 would stop working sometimes... and would work fine at other times when the temp. changed.

Does anyone have any good tips on the easiest way to replace the front window motors in a 93 ?

there is no easy way :(
once you get the door panel removed cut the plastic on the door panel with a razor and peel it back.
lower the window about halfway until you can see the 2 nuts that hold the white clips that are attached to the window glass.
loosen the 2 nuts (10mm if i remeber correctly) but do not remove, and you should be able to carefully lift the pane of glass out of the door from the outside by pulling it up and towards you.
with the glass removed lower the window all the way down so that the motor and regulator can be removed.
unplug the connector from the window motor.
next you need to remove 2 bolts that hold in one portion of the window regulator.
Then you have to drill out 4 rivets. Use a drill bit that is almost the same size as the rivet head, but a bit smaller so that when you drill deep enough the heads pop off and stick to the drill bit making it easy to remove. sometimes a little bit of hammer assitance is required with a punch, but do not hit it too hard or you will bend the door.
once the rivets are out the motor and regulator should slide right out of the opening in the door, which will allow you to remove the motor from the regulator and replace it.
when you replace everything and put it all back together you might want to lube the regulator tracks and pivot points a bit.
I used some 1/4" machine screws with some metal clip things attached to the regulator to help replace the rivets when reinstalling.

thanks pokesmot
i wasn't sure if the glass needed to come out or not,
this is the method for the 93 model that doesn't have cables in the regulator correct?
will there be any difficulty in getting the regulator compressed enough to come out?

yea, I also have a 93 so you should have no problems.
as long as you lower the regulator all the way down once the glass is removed there should be no problems removing the regulator from the door frame.
some say the glass doesnt have to be removed, but I preffer to remove it because its safer and you dont have to worry about the glass dropping into the door and breaking. its very easy to remove the glass anyway, so why not.
If you want I can scan some pictures from my 93' service manual, just drop me an IM on AIM
