Ok, I just redid all my brakes on my 97 Grand Am. New slotted rotor's, nre drum's, premium pads. To the tune of about $500 worth of stuff. Now, I never broke any brakelines, nor lost any fluid. I just replaced the parts like I have done so many times before on car's and trucks. But now, I have no stoping power and the pedal slowly goes to the floor with constant pedal pressure. I am not leaking fluid or anything. This car has ABS. Could pushing all the extra fluid back up into the master cylinder have messed it up? The car shudder'd real bad before, due to screwed rotora and oval'd drum's. I did get the new pads a little warm on first drive, about 2 Mi, but they didn't seem to stop very well right out of the driveway. I sure hope it isn't the master, with the ABS I'll have to take it to the shop. Just spent $500 on brakes and another $350 on tires today, the Mastercard is allready wilting.

Any help is much appreciated

PS, I just read on another forum that you shouldn't push the fluid back up the system by pushing the calipers in to accept the new pads, is this true?

I had the same problem with ceramic pads give them about a week to seat in then you'll stop on a dime and give nine cents change. It's just that the pads are harder and take time to establish a full contact area

same problem here, but i just turned my rotors. anyways, it does go away, at most a week. if you feel a bit safer bleeding them a bit, go for it. it wouldnt hurt.

OK, guy's that makes me feel a little better. I'll try and bleed them later tonight. Need an excuse to go over to my buds and drink some beer anyways LOL.

Rayz, you do know it's spelled Bon Jovi, right? :D

Sounds like there might be air in the lines alright--I would definitely bleed again, to be sure.

Found the problem, it's the pads. I don't like them. The piston side pad is wearing in the middle ALREADY. got like 10 Mi on them., Granted, they got a little hot prematurely, only because they were/ are not grabbing like they should. Now, when you press the pedal hard, the pad flexes because the center is worn. This is causing the low pedal feel. Guess I'm going in for better pads. Scratch Raybestos off my list.

They’re only hitting in the middle, give them a chance wear in.
You’re going to have this problem with any premium or ceramic pad.
I had to let my ProAct ceramic pads wear in for about a week and they were about $70
