my 97 gase 2.4 is approaching 100k miles. what should i begin replacing?

as of right now the water pump is gonna have to be replaced, should i get the chain, sprockets and gears done also?

spark plugs, fuel filter, air filter, new hoses, run seafoam?

anything that usually happens on these cars around 100k besides the waterpump shitting the bed?

and yes ive searched, i spend 95% of my time on this forum reading threads :) just looking for any other helpful insight to keep it running strong

Yes on the sprockets and gears, and all other stuff if you have the funds. I wish I could have done all of that to mine.
My PS pump is being a PITA, you may want to look that over. And also get the fuel pressure checked?
Again, if you have the $. I didn't do half of this only because if I did find anything out I wouldn't be able to do anything until it broke anyhow.

wooo mother fker lol

called the dealership, the water pump alone was 882, to replace the chain and everything else needed in there when you replace the chain would be 1331 (water pump included)

im not having any kind of noise from the chain, do you think its worth it to replace? cuz that extra $500 could go a long way towards other misc. repairs on the car

Just keep your coolant drained and refilled every 2-3 years, old shitty coolant isnt good for cooling system parts and will kill a water pump prematurly

the water pump is already leaking, its beyond that point. the water pump will be replaced asap

If you are going to replace the WP do the other timing gears and sprockets as well (the chain included) since it will cost you another grand to do that stuff if it fails at say 120K.
When my harmonic balancer failed (67K right after I bought it), they replaced the chain/sprockets/gears as well (under warrenty) then my WP went (80K or so) and it was another $8XX (luckily warrenty work).

Yuu know what happened to me?!
The above obviously, then my Spider gears in the transaxle went to peices and I had to have the whole transaxle rebuilt for a warrenty cost of about $1800.00 (150.00 deductable cost for me, luckily they covered it) my Alt. was replaced under warrenty (prior to the Transaxle I *Think*, I can't remember anymore :( ) which is a 450 dollar DEALER job. And now I am having to replace my PS pump cause it is leaking, DAMN!
I think that is it! :)

my PS pump makes noise when its real real cold out, but either way, lol heh i wouldnt mind going without PS

i mean something detrimental to the car running.

i use to have a mitsubishi before i got this, so i know how to handle a piece of shit lmmfbao

and i was searching on the forums a little more, ga's made after 6/28/97 have a sucky ass timing chain tensioner that is said to crap out at about 110,000 miles and a good one that will last for over 200,000 miles

heh, so i went downstairs, popped the door. JACKPOT! october 1996

and the car was able to start under its own power (ive been using a battery charger ever since one night when i went to disarm and rearm my viper it barely made a sound)

its looking up, i cant complain much. im not mad at the car, waterpump went out right on time. i just wish i would have had the foresight to realize that before i spent my wad on some more audio equipment.

i think ill hold off on getting the chain replaced unless once the guy is in there he sees something bad. ill make sure to have enough chedda on me though either way :)

next up after waterpump, all new coolant hoses, new spark plugs, new tires, fix my damn check engine light (evap test port hose broken and missing...doesnt change performance)
