I was having issues with my engine. Broke a spark plug trying to fix a miss fire issue.

Got a quote from my mechanic.

Apparently, the misfire was from a leaking LIM gasket. So to get that fixed, as well as drilling and rethreading the head. And replacing the wheel bearings, tranny bearing and caliper.(other issues it had)

All of which is gonna run $2000!!!!!

So I have 3 options.
1. Pay to get this fixed
2. Replace the engine
3. Try and sell the GA and get a new car again.

Keep in mind I bought the car for $1600!

What do you think would be the best option?

Well do you like the car? If you like it alot, then throw a junkyard motor in it and replace the LIM in it while its out

It still needs other work aside from the mechanical problems.

$3600 for a good running Grand Am seems cheap enough. If you can do some/all of the work yourself, then your cost goes down. There is lot of instructions here on how to do the work. If you're the type that isn't/ don't want to do repairs yourself, buy a new car with extended warrenty. Since it's not running right now, you probally won't get your money all back selling it. It's a good car to learn on, and here is a great support group.

Finally decided to pay for the repairs. Came to be about $1500. Hope this fixes the missfire issue.
