Hi!
I have a '89 GASE, with a 2.5L 4Tech engine, automatic. I have a speedometer that bounces all over the dial, from 0-100 and back. Sometimes, rarely, it works correctly. Up until yesterday, the odometer seemed to be fine, until I reset the trip odometer. After that, both the odometer and the trip odometer stopped working. Originally, I thought that the VSS (or connection to) was the problem. Now I am not so sure.
So here are the questions:
1. On this year GA, with this motor/tranny setup, where can I find the VSS, and it's connections?
2. If the VSS isn't the culprit, what else could be causing the problem?
3. (Maybe related)...why would someone unplug what I assume is the TCC lockup sensor? Is there some advantage to doing this? As I was looking for the VSS, I found this blue, 4-prong plug unplugged from the tranny, and I thought this is it! But no...it dodnt fix the issue, and looking at some diagrams, I think this is the TCC sensor.
I am stumoed, but I still think I need to start at the VSS. So I need your help.
