hey,
i was at work at my dealership and the guys working on my car broke my bumper! its not really to bad, but its cracked really bad in one place and several small cracks in another...
but i was just wondering, since i am not paying for it, and since i am an employee of the dealer, they are letting me decide what i want on the front of the car.. so i was going to go with the GT bumper because its better and looks alot nicer!
just wondering about actual quality of the ebay bumpers and fitment and things!
thanks, then maybe i can go with the SC/T lip and make my SE kick ass!

IMO body kits bite. Sorry but plain and simple.. they suck. put a GT front bumper on there and SC/T lip and that'll be awesome :)
Personal opinion though.. some people like the fast and furious thing going on with grand am's.. for some reason?
edit:
Oh and the aftermarket bumpers fit kinda funky sometimes.

no i dont want a kit at all.. i want the GT bumper, but i was just wondering how the ebay kits fit, and are they a reliable place to get one for a damn good price!
if i do get the GT front, then i need that cowl pannel under the hood so they say.. but i dont care about paying for that!

IIRC, most ebay bumpers are OEM parts, but be sure to read the descriptions or ask the seller to be sure.

They could be aftermarket too. I got a quote for 195 for front and rear bumpers that are aftermarket. I've yet to find out of they have the 'Pontiac' indent on the rear one.

If they are paying for it, get a GT bumper cover from a GM dealer. Some of the ebay bumpers could be thinner and made of different materials.

well the whole deal is that GM wont warranty the bumper because its not GM's fault that the other mechanic broke it.. so i am just checking around to see what i can find.. i would really like the GT bumper, but i guess we will find out soon huh?

So the mechanic is paying for it?

well the dealership is paying for it, but its not covered by GM under warranty..
but i talked to my service manager (pretty much my boss) and he told me hes going to have the body shop guy look at the car and see how much it would cost to fix the way it is, or to replace it, and then he is going to cut me a check for that ammount and then let me do what i want with the money to get my bumper!

i say get the gt front bumper, and if he is paying for it get a good reliable one and dont use ebay. that way with the gt you can buy the sc/t lip kit

oh yea i fully planned on it!!!
but i think i am going to get the most expensive e-bay one that there is.. because comparing them, the most expensive one seems to be the highest quality...
anyone have other good sources of GT front ends that are nice quality?

You work at the dealership. Why are they giving you a cheque? Just get your boss to order the GT bumper from GM and have the dealership guys install it. And just not charge you for it. Why bother with Ebay? Doesn't that make more sense or am I missing something?

well... if he gets aftermarket, then he'll have some pocket money. But aftermarket could mean thinner plastic, this flimsy design... not very good.

frosty..
the reason that they dont want to get one from gm is because its 400 dollars, and the dealership isn't going to warranty the bumper.. gm will ask for the old one back... and that will a: be the wrong bumper, and b: gm didn't break it so they shouldn't buy it..
well i will take a check for the amount, its nothing bad to me!
