Just a thought. Today I was at my friend's step-dad's house, and we had to go pick up this Mercedes to work on it. ( The throttle cable came loose that's it. ).
This car is pretty much crappy condition right now. The body is pretty good for an 85 car that sat for a year. Interior is pretty good too, except the speedometer doesn't work. Rest of the car is in good condition, chassis and everything. The engine is knocking, sounds like a loose valve spring or bad rocker arm. The guy bought the whole car for $300 and has had a new fuel pump, filter and tune up done to it.
I was going to try and see if he'd sell it for maybe $500-700, however, my friend dan and I were going to split the cost and put it in both our names and use it as a restoration. I think it's the crappy 5 Cylinder 3.0L. However, it is to my knowledge that in a 1990 500-S is a beast of an engine, the 5.0L V8, 322 horsepower @ 5500 rpm, 332 ft-lbs of torque @ 4000 rpm. This is an example.
Just looking for opinions again...I'll try to get pics.
