Story time...

It's my sister's b-day, so we went out to eat. My sis, her baby, and I were in my car, my mom and her fiance drove in her truck. We go to Red Lobster. I am going through the parking lot and the lady comes to a stop, so i stop. She starts backing up because there is a spot. she starts getting close so i hit my horn. She stops, so i stop. But then she starts again. so i hit my horn again. then, thud and i move back a little bit. She pulls into her spot and her and a little boy get out. She looks 60-70 years old. My sis is good at yelling so she gets out and starts yelling you hit my brothers car. The lady says no i didn't, i didn't feel anything. My sis is like yes you did i felt it. :argue: Then, this is what really pissed me off. She says well if i did, what do you expect me to do about it, and goes inside. so my sister gets her plates. There was a long wait, so the lady left before we even got out of the car. So when my mom gets there, we tell her what happened, and a lady overhears and gives us her number as a wittness.:P We file a police report and eat dinner. If the lady wasn't so rude, i probably wouldn't have done anything, because there is just a few scratches and my bumper is pretty bad anyway, but she pissed me off so :2up:. In 4 days the report is supposed to be on the internet and i can give it to my insurance. I hope i get a new bumper. :D

If there was previous damage the insurance investigator will probably be able to tell. When I got in a wreck and they examined my car he made a note that there was previous damage. At least you got their plate number. I would also report it to the police as a hit and run and see if you can press charges.

Get that old bag for every penny you can.

If she said 'Sorry lets work this out' that would be different.
But for her to be rude and walk away deserve her to lose a few bucks.
If she did that to me, my temper would have kicked in and so would have her tail lights. But I don't suggest it. lol

you got lucky. i was at the grocery store 2 weeks ago and someone clipped my 2000 dakota when i was shopping. bastard didnt even leave a note. luckly it wasnt bad, i popped the dent out and hit it with a little touch up paint. if you werent looking for it you might not notice it, just like i didnt untill the next day.

The nerve of some people.... What, did the lady think you were laying on the horn for your health??

Cmnky16, you did the right thing getting a police report (and it sounds like the lady that hit you was not present for the report). Plus you have a witness. If anything, she is liable for a hit and run (and that's a BIG no-no).

No matter what, you are to file a police report. I know too many people that tempt fate. One of my friends later found that some one who said "Oh we have no damage on either of our cars, let's forget it happened" tried to file a hit and run against my friend (but it was outside the time frame the city allowed for a filing).

I'm all about a little CYA.

And if the bumper had previous damage, I have no idea what insurance would give you for it. Maybe a couple bucks (but not enough for actual replacement).

The bumper didn't have actual damage before, just scratches. After a closer examination, i noticed that the bumper is cracked behind the liscense plate.
