I'm kinda clueless on what i need to lower my car. Of coarse i know i need lowering springs but what else do i need? How much will the whole thing cost me? If you could tell me what you paid that would give me a good idea on how much i need to save up for em'. Thanks

Search. ;)

All you need are springs. Once installed you will need to get an alignment. If you have a lotta miles on your struts (40k+) you may want to change them out at the same time. See this thread a few below for prices on springs & struts.

Hey thanks. I thought i would need to get new struts too to accomodate for the springs. But i only ahve 16K on my car now so i guess the springs will do. I hope they don't cost a lot to put on. Three are a lot of springs to choose from. I would like a 1.5 inch drop or lower. Which ones do you guys think i should choose?

I would get eibach. Those are the best performance wise and they give you a comfortable ride. Just my 2 cents.

you need springs, wrenches, hammer, air impact wrench, strut spring compressors, screwdrivers, and 2 people at least. This isnt a one person job.

Some people say you can do it without an air impact wrench and compressors but i beg to differ, at least its much easier with those tools So GET them.

then an alignment when finished.

I recommend Intrax springs if you want a big drop thats what i have and i LOVE them. If your in it for preformance (blah) then get Eibachs i guess... well i see that you want at least a 1.5 inch drop so Eibachs are out of the question (they suck anyways) so get either Intrax or H&R's.

I beg to differ... a friend of mine has eibachs on his celica and loves them. Ride Great. And btw eibachs drop the front 1.5" and the back 1.3".

The Eibachs are rated to drop only 1.2-inches on 99+. TireRack did a performance test between the Eibachs and HR's and found the HR's slightly outperformed the Eibach's. So it's a toss up.

Either the Eibachs, HR's or Intrax will do you well. I haven't heard much of anything about any of the other springs available.

Should i get an alignment kit that Eibach is selling if i get the intrax or H&R?? or should the place where would get them put on be able to do it?

you don't need an alignment kit with any of these springs. None of them lower the car enough to throw off the camber (or caster??) so much that it can't be brought into factory specs.

Not sure of fitaments on your 94. But on 99+ a 2" drop is okay with 17 or 18 inch wheels.

As far as those two sites being cheaper??? For what? Springs? You can still get them (Intrax, which is what they have on the SBC site) cheaper ($182 vs $220) at Contemporary Motorsport. And NOPI, I wouldn't buy a dang thing from them. Everything is overpriced there.

i just dropped my car with eibachs, and the guy at the alignment place told me i needed to camber bolts(camber kit) because i was at like -2 or something. so i think that even no matter how low you lower your car ur in need of an alignment and maybe adjusting the camber, i dunno tho

Pretty informative thread. My car will be done by spring so I'm looking forward to that. One thing at a time tho. :) I'm not getting springs until the end.

I agree with that, because I think with 2 degrees negative camber, your alignment would be off enough to give uneven wear on the tires. Is it noticable when you look at the wheels from the front fender? The bottoms would stick out farther that the top.
