Between those 2, the first one. The second one should cost about half of that due to mileage and all that aftermarket crap all over it.

I'd get the 1st myself, I prefer to build my own ride, not buy one already worked on.

1st. But I'd want to drive them both to compare.

I'd definitely go with number 1.

Aftermarkets mods lower the car that much, so how much do you think the second one is worth?

It can vary wildly. It's really hard to say based on pics alone. That's the kind of car I wouldn't even consider unless I had a professional body shop take a look at the bodywork, look for signs of collision, ensure the impact bars haven't been removed for the kit, etc. Any electrical mods scare me even more. I wouldn't touch that car.

is the 86000 miles too much, generally for a grand am. He said that the car has been had its oil changed every 3000 miles and only had to have the O2 censor replaced. Thanks for everyones help thus far.

That's expected. (Can't be proven anyway, everyone selling a car will tell you that even if they didn't  ) Maintenance is assumed to be up-to-date when selling a car. Having parts replaced does not make the car worth any more or less.

Body kit or not, it's still worth less than the first car based on mileage.

I'd go for the chaeper car with less miles myself.

Just say no to pre-rice - get the stock one and mod it out to your own tastes, also yes, the second one is worth HALF that amount due to mileage alone!

#1....definately.

Mods kill value. They say. "I wanted a racecar but couldn't afford it. So I'll take this car, modify it and beat the piss out of it."

either that or mods simply say.. i dont want to have a factory car like everyone elses, I am going to put time and work into it and make it my own.. :roll2:

That is true - but then, do you want to buy someone else's expression of individuality?

Plus, it's my perception that modded cars have been beat on more.

Definately go with #1.

nothing about my car is just a added on kit part and left like that.. I mod the mods.. btw.. nothing on my car has been "beat", generallitys like that are bullshit. But back on subject go with the stock and do whatever you want with it. If you choose to build it up to your own liking there is nothing wrong with that. Just do whatever you like best and dont really rely on everyone else's opinions so much. Because whatever decision you make you will be stuck with for awhile. However unless you mod the car yourself I would have to agree that its hard to say what they have done to it and what they may have damaged in the process.

I did not say that your car has been beat on. It's just that modded cars in general tend to have been driven harder (because there's a car enthusiast for the owner), or the mods may not have been installed to your taste, just as you say:

I would have to agree that its hard to say what they have done to it and what they may have damaged in the process.

Another thing nobody metioned, make sure that none of us have mentioned yet. Check for the LIM (Lower intake manifold) Gasket problem. Check the oil and make sure it doesn't have a milky color to it. Our 3400's are known for this.
