I am going to replace my heater core this weekend, I am told that I have to remove the center console to get to the core. Can anyone tell me how to remove the console?

Yes, you'll need to get the console out of the way.

i know how it comes out. First thing to do, is open the middle glovebox on the console, and there are two tabs that hold the shifter cover on. Grab on the end of the cover and pull it up til it snaps out of place, than slowly make your way down the cover until the entire cover comes off.
Next you will find 3 sets of two bolts holding the console onto the floor. Remove these 6 bolts, and the console will slide right off of the floor. I took the whole thing out as one unit, but once I got it out I realized that there are two parts to the console.. the top and the bottom. There are snap tabs holding it in in the middle, just pry them apart, and pull the two pieces apart (the front end, near the hvac controls will be difficult, but just pull and be careful)
after they are apart, pull the entire center console out of the car, and you should have an exposed shifter knob and casing
you can now get to the heating core in the car.
I just did this a couple weeks ago to clean the grease and hair out of in between the seams on my console. Hope it helps.

Have fun, the hardest part for me was the vent that slides into the carpet... go figure. Lot to take apart, just member how it to put it back together and your all good.
