LQ1 is a 3.4 DOHC and while technically possible, it would take a lot of work. If you want to do an engine swap, just build up an LA1 a bit and drop that in.

if that won't work i'd rather just port out my 3.1 when i get it rebuilt this summer

Personally. I think unless it is actually a worth while swap its better to just beef up your current engine cause with all these computers and junk in these new cars it seems nothing is quite as simple anymore or even cost effective. So do lots of research in the power handleing of your new engine and see if it worth doing the mods to make it work.

As the 3400 DOHC is a cool motor it's not worth the swap. They have alot of problems with them. Not to mention it is a rather large engine due to the DOHC on a 'V' block.
