yes you can do 3400 heads on a 3100. Do a search, it's been talked about.

hey you never said a price range ;)

Well the entire upper end from a 3400 or from a year 2000+ 3100. Not to mention a custom cat back exhaust.

you'll lose some low end torque with a bigger exhaust.

^^There's a point where you still get gains before you notice the loss in low end. I think 2.25 - 2.5 is where that range is. 3 you start to get noticeable loss in low end and it all transfers to the high end.

not sure about the 3100, (should be about the same as a 3400) but when I went to a 2.5 SLP I noticed a small amount of low end loss...not much, but it was there :)

Not a lot right? You lose a bit of low end but gain a lot in the top is what I hear.

I'm looking at places to get my exhaust done at the end of the summer and was thinking about 2.5'.

well for what you lose low end (which isn't much) you gain waaaay more at the top end...plus a purty sound :D

2.5: will be good :)

That's what I figured. :D

So 2.5 all the way would give you a big upgrade on top end?

It's a fair size for bolt ons and for this engine if N/A. If you're boosting going 3" will yeild more power. It's really up to your configuration, but if you're not boosting then up to 2.5" will give you a boost in the top with little loss in the low end.

if i was to put say a 2.5 on mine would that totally kill my emissions?

If all of your emissions stuff is still there it won't do anything to ruin your emissions.

Even highflow cats will still allow you to pass. I remember that highflow cats have a more pure form of the catalysts and the design allow more surface area with less restriction. It's all in the engineering.

Id stick with 2.25".....Theres no need for 2.5" with a 3100 V6. Not enough engine for that big of piping.
