i have a couple of flaws on the body of my 96. i was just wondering what would the best thing to do to get rid of them

there is about a nickle size spot of rust on the end of my hood near my headlight

and here, the first owner of the car slide on some ice and hit a stop sign with the passenger side fender, theres some dents and some paint scrapped off.

Ouch, I'm not too familiar with rust (not really an issue in FL) I'd just take it to a body shop and let a professional take care of it.

Don't need to be that drastic. Just sand the area to bare metal. Prime it with some anti rusting primer let it cure in warm place that's dry then apply a second coat. Let that dry overnight. Scuff up the primed area with some scotch brite stuff(the blue kind, you'll know what i mean when you step in to a paint store). Then just paint 2 coats of color letting each coat cure. Dry over night. Then clear. It's best to have a space heater aimed at it overnight like a makeshift heatlamp. I did this kind of work to a rusty sunbird and was amazing.

Sounds easy but there's a lot of prep.

Next it you gotta wet sand it back down to the same level of rest of the paint in the area. Then polish and wax.

Only possible downside is if the rest of your car has bad paint then that one area will look too good compared to the rest of the hood.
