I took it to the dealer and said that it's not geting good mpg. Then 7 hours later when i said f!@# it I'm going to get my car they had it hook up to one the the scan tools. They said that the pcm (I think thoes are the right letters) needed an update, and that might help the gas prob. When driving it home my car lost some of it's power. But that is ok cuz i have better mpg.

They probably messed with the timing :)

Yep probably. I noticed this weekend my car got great gas mileage for the first time 150 mile on a little more than 1/4 a tank. I think the gas stations are starting to use a different mix of gas and not the winter mix

Also, keep in mind, with the warmer weather here, it doesn't take long for your engine to warm up. Running in a cold start mode, it will run richer longer, thus using more fuel. You will get better gas mileage with the ambient air temp at 70, rather than -5....lol.

I live in montgomery,al and the coldest i stared the car was around 30F anylower I will not leave the house. Yea they probly mess with the timing. My car use to jump harder than my mom's 3100 mailbu. Now I got to push it harder if i want to do that.

wow... it gets to -30F and you don't leave the house? hehehe...
Anyhow, What year is your Grand am? I'm having some pretty low gas mileage myself, but I figured it was just the fact that I had a lead foot.
I get about 350-360kms on a take of gas, but for some reason when I fill up I find out I had about 10 litres left in the tank. Think I may get the dealership to look at the PCM also...
thanks :)

hehe look under my name 2001 2.4 se hehe. Just remember this your car is still new. From what I hear it is not broke in till 30k miles. My bad:P 50000kms
But you also have the 3400 350kms is about distance my mom gets on her 97 3100 malibu. But I think you should know the route to get better gas mileage. Get air in and out very fast.
p.s. The best you can do is try to keep the RPM under 2500. I know this sounds hard but you can do it. In my 2.4 i try to keep it under 2700, it is hard as hell to do thought.
I get about 320 miles out of a tank of gas. I usually put in about 11 gallons. Usually works out to about 28 to 30 mpg. I am happy with that. 03 GAGT 3400. The best mileage I have got out of my stock GAGT is 31 on a 210 mile trip that was about 60% freeway and 40% 2 lane road. I can't complain about that. I hope my Jet Module will improve it a little.
My 2 Durangos that I had Jet Modules on both got almost 2mpg better on normal driving. BUT, when I would drive them hard, the mileage would drop about 1mpg below the stocksaverage.

I bought my 99 GT at the end of February, and was able to get about 380 KM per tank using premium fuel. I'll admit that I drive it hard...so many wannabe's and ricers out there that just need to be schooled...hehehe.
Anyway...I got rid of the Airbox and consequencely the Ram Air (which only adds 5HP anyway) and put in a Ractive Cold Air Induction...nice little boost in initial power and sound, but I'm down to about 340KM now.
Guess you've got to pay to play.
:thewave:
Actually, the Ram Air doesn't add the extra 5 hp to the GT. The engine its self puts out 5 hp more in the GT. The Ram Air doesn't add any hp until you go over 80mph or so. The only advantage the Ram Air has over the SE factory air intake, is that it gets a little cooler air into the intake.
The Chevy Venture van with the 3400 has 185 hp without Ram Air.
