Best bet is to replace the bumper skin with one from a salvage yard.

^ x2.
Any repair to the existing bumper cover would be a bandaid and would eventually crack again in the future.

I just got 2 quotes on replacing the rear bumper on my car. The GM part was quoted at $405.37 (part number 22610699) from both of the places I went to. That didn't include labor, other parts, or painting.

You can get factory replacements off ebay for like 250ish.......unpainted, 75 bucks for painting... and do the installation yourself, its not to bad..

I just purchased (actually received it today) an OEM GT rear bumper from www.rockauto.com for $280 bucks, and that included shipping. It's also primed and ready for paint, so check them out.

get one from the wreckers for a fraction of that price (maybe $100), and maybe even the same color ;)
Its a big piece of plastic, not really anything on it to age other then paint, so there isn't really a reason to buy a brand new one unless you just like spending money.
