well i was cleaning out my car yesterday and i decided to check the oil level. i opened the cap and i was horrified! there was this white milky shit all over the dipstick, even towards the top! i also saw some water beads on the stick too. ive had enough, and i think im getting a new car. i just cant keep puttin money into this thing. but what gets me is the fact that there is no white smoke coming out of the exhaust and the car is running fine. wtf?

That's normal as long as it's just at the top of the stick above the oil level. It's just condensation.

well the white stuff is all over the dipstick, especially on the ball on the bottom.

Get that stuff in the clear bottle with the copper fileings in it.. follow the directions to a T.. it should last a while..at least long enough to sell it.. cuase its only a matter of time now.

quit panicking, this is common to have condensation build up in our engines. what i suggest is that you check your oil air seperator, make sure it is flowing properly and allowing the air to leave your crank case, then go aout and drive around for a while, let the engine get hot and allow the water that is in the crank case to boil off. then check your oil after an hour or two of driving. If its still there, you should have a compression test done to see if your head gasket is leaking.

Hey,
My car just came out of the garage and had the exact same problem, You should look a my post in "problems".
I had a compression test and everything is OK. It is this frigging winter thats bringing humidity in my motor. I had a special engine cleaner that took care of most of the white stuff.
good luck !

Foam on the top of the stick is .................like many have said normal, for quads. My VW Bug with a Air cooled motor, no water in it at all would foam up every winter.
I saw a compression tester at a store for 20.00 this weekend.
Slant 6 motor also have that foam all year long.
MOST motors it's a big deal.....but go grab a pop and read a book.

you have a leaking head gasket...which is very common with the Quad 4. I'm on my 2nd one. The first one was fixed under warranty at 60,000 miles. Now at 105,000 miles I'm getting the same thing...white gooo all over the dipstick. I used CarGo about once a month for 6 months until it just wouldn't hold any more...so, last weekend...I did the deed. A new Head Gasket, Head, and lifters. It cost me about $1500 in parts. It was not easy the first time around. The hardest part was getting the bolt on the back motormount off and jacking up the engine to get the timing chain cover off. (I also had a bad waterpump and idle gear). Got it all together...and running like a top! for another 60,000 miles. Note: be sure to put the cam assembly on first...then the timing chain cover...or you'll be sorry.

yep...mine ran fine also...till the water in the oil corroded the waterpump and it froze. Water in the crank is not good...and eventually it will break down the bearings and your engine will be history. Also, you will loose water which will cause your engine to overheat...which will crack the aluminum head and it will spiral down. Go to wallmart and get CarGO block repair...it should keep you going for a while.

it will run for a bit and then get sluggish. I did the head gasket on mine and found out after the oil and cooling stated leaking down the side of the block i made a bad descion and bought head gaskets that needed to be re torqued after 500 miles. while my head gasket leaks ( until i get the ambition to rip this thing apart again)i have never noticed any white or blue smoke from my tail pipe and i know its leaking, Oil puddel on my drive way every morning. when I rip apart the engine for the third time im going right to G.M for my head gaskets. thay have a better model with stiffer fiber than any after market gaskets for sale for this motor. but you must ask for the updated 1 or thay will give you the old crappy desighn. have fun and trust me i feel you frustration:tears2:  :nic: :shake: :pissed2:

yeah i changed the oil on easter and it still runs fine, but i do notice a loss of "sack" as far as performance goes.
