Hey guys, my Fiance's 96 Cavalier seems to have a low speed wobble that you only feel at low speeds (up to ~15mph). It's not when you brake, but more when the car is just coasting (not accelerating). The car has around 130K, I've replaced the struts & mounts, control arm bushings inthe past year. I'm thinking it could be a lower ball joint or tie rod....any suggestions?

Thanks!

Yeah, tire. Bad or slightly shifted belt. Out of round possibly. I'd even look for a bent rim but I think you'd feel that at higher speeds as well. Sometimes just a slightly shifted belt balances out as the car goes faster, just the faster spinning & road surface makes it blend in with other things you feel the car doing.

Just a thought.

Yeah, I had considered that... Although, I rotated the tires last week, and the problem is still there. I would have thought that'd make somewhat of a difference.

I must have missed out, I take it you sold the '95 GT?

Well, no. I didn't sell it. I traded it in. I was forced to do something. Driver's side lower A-arm snapped in half due to rust. Passenger side was starting to go as well. There were rust holes in it. Estimate was over $1500 to repair. I was going to buy another vehicle by this time anyway so I went for a new car.

Of course, I wasn't in the buying position I wanted to be in, so it was a situation of "This is what I want to pay per month, I have no money and almost nothing to trade, so what can you do for me?". He pointed me to a row of cars, said they're all pretty much the same price, try 'em out & let me know.

The Monte Carlo was the first one I drove, liked it and told him to see if he could get me the loan. Really a nice car. I like it a lot. Not as much go off the line but pulls its own once going. Great gas mileage, better than the GA (almost 40 mpg at 65 mph). Rides smoother & is quieter too. Mileage is higher than I would have liked but I wasn't in a position to do much about that.

Now I just have to sneak some mods past my wife! :D

Well thats too bad about the Grand Am, sounds like the road salt up there got rough on it huh?

Good to hear you got a good deal on the Monte Carlo, can't complain about the gas mileage! Thats something I need to look into on my GA, it's really been sucking up the gas, which is bad right now at $2.90/gallon!

Yeah, it has grown by leaps and bounds. If you're around often, there's still a moderator position with your name on it. :)

May have to keep that moderator position in mind :)

Strange to see how I'm member #21, and how we're up to 15,000. That's awesome!
