Pacific Northwest Summer Picnic

Who: Grand Am/Alero Owners family and friends
What: BBQ Picnic, softball, BS
When: Saturday June 21, 2003 - 11a.m-Dusk
Where: Roegner Park, Auburn, Wa
Why: To get together all long time Grand Am/Alero Friends and Family as well as to get to know other new owners.
Cost: $10 per person. Small children free.

We would like to welcome and invite all GA/Alero owners, family, and friends to come out and have a Saturday in the sun with food and fun. We will be BBQing hamburger and hotdogs as well as chips, sodas, salads, ect. We can play softball, football, playground for children, bathrooms and a lot of grass to roll in. As well as an accessable river to swim in.

Everything will be provided in the $10 cost per person along with the covered area we reserved rain or shine. Cost may vary depending on ammount of people that show up. We will divide the # of people by cost. No more than $10. Any less the wife and I will eat the cost. We are not in it for a profit but want to arrange something for everyone and are taking the risk.

We do not require you to reserve but would appreciate an answer if you and # of guests would be sent to us no later than June 13. We will of course give a cushion for late comers but do not want to overspend.

We really hope for a good turnout. If you are coming from out of town or from a long way I can get motels/hotels in the area for you.

Friday Night Street Legal Drags

In the event we have enough people interested there are Friday night street legal drags at Pacific Raceways in Kent. All within a few miles from each other. This is not part of our day but we can always show up. It is open to everyone ricers and all. The lady said it is how you stage so we can all stage together in the holding stalls and she said they will team us together if we want it that way. Cost is $25 per car and driver and $10 per passenger or spectator. Times are from about 4p.m. to 10p.m.. You can run as many times as you can get your car in the staging area. Approximately 10-15 runs. Anyone 18yrs or younger need to bring a parent to sign a permission slip. Like I said this is just something every Friday so we can be part of it if we want.

Dude! Sounds sweet! I hope we can get a bunch of people. I live in Seattle and go to school in Federal Way and I've seen quite a few sweet-lookin GAs in the area, but I don't know if they're on here ever... I will mark my calendar and plan on being there though :D

Hotel/Motel Information

Please refer to this website for decent hotels/motels in Auburn. If you wish to travel the surrounding cities are Kent and Federal Way. There are link here for them also. These are some of the nicer ones in the area. If you would like me to look into the cheapest possible roach coaches I can do that as well. Thought I would start off decent though.

Here is the closest one most convenient one. (Algona/Pacific)

Scott..

Are you bringing your F4i (if it's nice out) :D

Do You have to really ask. That is what I was discussing with the wife today. The park only has 35 parking stalls. If this turns out to be big we will have to use the school parking lot. No biggie since it will be summer. But I will have to bring the truck to haul stuff, that car because I don't want to be left out and then the bike because everyone wants to see it. Good thing I live close. We will see more when the time come.

You bringing yours? IF??????

I think I will take it out now. I see sun!

Well it's already starting to come together. Keep in touch and if you have any ideas don't be afraid to email them or post them up. Looking at the fasted 1/4 mile depending on how many can make it to the track and also our very own car show. Will type up some score sheets, hand out numbers and have members judge. All still up in the air right now.

Just a post to keep everyone up to date.

Looks like Saturdays picnic is going to be a decent turnout. As of now it looks like about $5-7 a person now. That is if everyone that says is coming will show up.

Fridays Street Legal Drags seems to have a very minimal turnout. We will see as we get closer.

Thanks everyone for your support,

Scott

19 Days Away

We are now going to start gathering our numbers for shopping. Please email me, "NOT POST" if you are coming For Sure and how many guests you are bringing. This will minimize our overspending and overabundance of food.

We also need a tally of who is interested in the Street Legal Drags so I can gather numbers and see if it is worth doing it.

Email address: gtaholic@attbi.com

Thanks,

Scott

About 22. The only bad thing is most people I know from the boards have sold their GA's. But none the less will be there as friends. I count 6 cars. Should have been 10 if this was held about a year ago.

I think more people than emailed me will show up. Some that were coming have cancelled. Some who wern't expected have emailed.

So will never know until the day.

The sponsor thing fell through terribly but the picnic should still be a good hang out for some eats and conversation.

We shopped for each person to pay $10 for
1 hamburger
1 hotdog
Potatoe Salad or Macoroni Salad
Potatoe Chips
2 Sodas
1 Bottled Water
2 cookies

So we made it worth the $10 but if more people show up then it will mathmatically decrease.

First time ever to the track but nothing to brag about. If you don't beleive me "WHICH NO REASON WITH THESE TIMES" I can take pics and post.

Run 1 (First time ever to the track) ETS off/ In 3rd
16.482 @84.26

Run 2 ETS off / Manually shifted / Missed 2nd straight to 3rd
16.066 @ 84.31

Run 3 ETS accidently on/ Shifted red line all 3 gears
16.036@ 84.88

Run4 ETS off/ Manually shifted/ Felt like tranny dumped and let off gas in a panic (Still beat run 1)
16.374 @ 83.19

I went as a spur of the moment with some work buddies. I had a Full tank of gas, subs, box, and amps in the car. Wasn't really prepared. I don't think I could get lower than a 15.8-15.9

So what do you think for the first time out. I was excited about run 3. All other ones I had something wrong with the run

Yo... the picnic turned out to be pretty cool even though there weren't that many ppl. Even my Prius-owning ricer friend had fun lol. We should do it again next year!

And for the quarter mile times, I wouldn't feel too bad. We all know the GA is not a racing machine, esp the automatic, but thats still not bad under the conditions.

Scott, thanks again for hosting this event. I will have pics up as soon as I get them transfered from my cam.

I wanted to say thank you for all that showed up as well as pass the word on to thank your guest. Without your precense the damage to my wallet would have been devastating. Thanks guys and gals. We need to do it again somtime but different. Potluck or prepay as well as more than 1/2 day of sun. Final tally was 15. Sorry most were my friends. The GA part of the crowd was a flop. Sorry for those of you that showed up expecting a car show. It was supposed to be better than that. I had emails expecting about 12 cars and 30 people. But what can you do. Maybe next time.

All my pics are too big for the sites. I don't have the time right now to make them smaller because I don't know how. Would take some time. Sorry, will work on it.
