Writing this because I searched it, and seen others seem to ahve this problem at times also. At first I thought it was the spark plugs, or maybe the computer module.

Ok, so Ive had this problem for quite some time now, and Its only been getting worse. My 93 Grand Am GT, hesitated off the line, and when you punched it to accelerate.

I started to fix the problem by buying a new K&N air filter (thinking it wasnt getting enough air, or the filter was dirty)

Fine, this fixed it for awhile (few months) but it returned! and got worse and worse up until yesturday it actually stalled upon acceleration from a stop.

SOLUTION--------
Booked it into the local Pontiac dealer today, and had them look over it. They told me it was the K&N Filter, and my MAF. They said the K&N is coated with a oil to catch more dust and stuff like that, but the K&N's oil also gets pulled into your MAF sensor. In turn, gumming up and causing the MAF to be disabled and not fully functionable leading to the hesitation problem.

They cleaned the MAF and put in a genuine GM part (ACdelco) filter while flushing the injectors, and it seems to run brilliantly now, so smooth.

CONCLUSION-------
The one thing I dont understand is, why the K&N would cause this problem, or make my dirty MAF worse? Isnt K&N supposed to be one of the best air filters around, but why would they coat the filter in oil if it could potentially cause a problem like this, and lead to a big problem. If anyone ahs suggestions or the answer, please post. Thanks.

Many people have used the K&N without any problems. You had the problem before installing the filter.

I think the injector cleaner solved most of your problems.

Oil on the maff is something that happens sometimeswith the K&N so just clean it with some denatured alcohol (not rubbing).
Dealerships love to blame a problem on an aftermarket part and then try to sell you the oem part.

I have had your problem with a 2000 Blazer, Dealership said the same thing cleaned the MAF and all was good.
I won't buy a K&N now because of my experiance, it wasn't too much more HP or MPG either. Maybe I would see a differance in my 2.4 but I don't want to spend 50 dollars to make extra work of cleaning another part of the car.
