View Full Version : A/C repair?
Hi all,
So my A/C has stopped working. I was told it was the clutch and /or the compressor. I am buying a new car so I am not going to fix this one but someone was telling me about a easy A/C fix which is two cans that you spray into the A/C line but you have to find the low pressure valve (not the high pressure).
Has anyone done this and/or does anybody know where this valve is located. I was told it was a real easy thing to do and it works.
Thanks for any help

if the clutch is gone it would not make since to me to put more stuff in. BTW what is this stuff? Having an a/c line blow up in your face is not cool from what i hear.

The cans you're referring to are illegal in Canada, from what I know. Therefore you can't buy them here.
They are dangerous and if you don't know what the high and low side pressure valves are or where they are located, it probably isn't the best idea.
Plus if it is a compressor or compressor clutch problem your problems are likely unrelated to the refridgerant charge, unless the compressor is not engaging because it is in protection mode from low charge. But even if that were the case, you've got a leak and you can't fix it by just adding refridgerant, you have to fix the leak first.
The compressor clutch repair/replacement doesn't require any fiddling with the refridgerant charge, however the entire compressor does--you require special shop equipment to recover the refridgerant before the repair and then to recharge afterwards.

These are not illegal in Canada, they sell them at many part stores. I was just told about this from a friend who did three cars no prblem and said it was so easy once you locate the valve (low pressure).
For 15 -20 bucks for the kit I figured it can't hurt to try even if it does not work. Just curious if anyoone else has used it. My firends car the valve was under the wheel well, I haven't looked yet but maybe it is someplace I would not even see it, iiin case someone already knows where it is
Thanks

So I think I found the valve, under the passenger side headlight (more or less). Can anybody confirm this?
Thanks
