Ummm a DSM engine in a GM?? I mean to each their own but I dont exactly understand. I am not sure exactly but u will need the wiring harness and ECU from the DSM. U will need to fabricate motor mounts, ummm switch out the front axles somehow I mean prolly rip out the whole ga front end. I mean good luck with that I hope u got a good low miles or very well rebuilt trans on that dsm if u plan on runnin large amounts of boost, but u didnt ask about that so i fifure u no all about the DSM problems, anyway let us know how that odd union works out!
Peace,
Andrew

Then sell the GA and go buy a used DSM.

Well I work in a shop, my boss had a 2.4 turbo just lying around and sold it to me. My original plan was to hype it up and sell it as a race motor. After I got through I said why not swap it into my car. I know I need engine mounts I got the ECM wiring harness already. I just thought it would be a cool project to do but I just wanted to find out if it's more bull crap then what it's worth. Also I just got the car registered a couple of weeks ago, and i wanna stick with the cheap insurance. If it is im just gonna go with my original plan

Its more bull crap than its worth.
What i would do is build that motor and tranns. Then in a few years (when your older and have more experiance) buy a DSM in decent shape then dropp in what you built.

agreed
Save the hassle of dealing with problems trying to get everything to work right and just find a decent shape DSM and drop that motor in it.

yeah and what motor does your ga have. Because even if it's boosted a four bangger stands a good chance of losing to a powerful na

You obviously do not know what you're talking about. Google for quarter mile times on cars with a modded 4G63 turbo. Compare that to the top NA times of any GA engine.

the eclipse is one lighter then a ga and two my cousion has a 4g63 with a garret t25 and he only beats my 0-60 by two secs and all i have is a k'n filter. and i didn't know he said modded but i think swpping it would be a waste of time, i hate four cylinders anyways

Well im not complaining I got the motor for free, besides you guys are right i took a better look at my ga. It is more hassle then what it's worth. besides I already got a kid at my school who's buying the motor off of me. Well thanks for your advice everybody.

well let it just stand on here now. To do an engine swap and ask for information on this board isnt the best place to start. Sure there are guys on here with a lot of knowledge, but even still, engine swaps these days are getting harder and harder to do. Many imports do it, but they are usually quite expensive and the shop who does it for you will usually be your saving grace in getting things working. There arnt that many shops around that will do GA engine swaps and even less at a comparable price. Just dont bother with it unless you already know what you are doing, because its usually not worth it

Im not even gonna try :shake: the 4g63 is a great engine IF you can exorcise the demons of its design flaws (e.g. if its a 2G 6-bolt prone to crank walk, or elsewise) then try to figure out how to increase power without a'sploding the transmission.
its an awesome project, just not for a GA, persay

You are an idiot!!
Do you have ANY idea what 2 seconds means in a 1/4 mile!?!?!
You know NOTHING on this subject, stop posting till you learn somethings.
I know i might get warning points for this but it was worth it.

well 2 seconds 0-60 is gonna be ALOT more in the 1/4 mile since 0-60 is where the I-4 GAs have all their grunt. I can beat most sport compacts in the 60ft, but after that the little LD9 runs out of steam. So I imagine a DSM beating a GA in the quarter by 2.5+ seconds if it can pull 2 seconds just 0-60
