Finally got around to installing the M62 I bought this winter. Install went pretty good, did the complete install by myself. After some toying this car really winds up now and screams and whines at WOT!!!

Yummy. How much did all that equipment set you back?
I'd love to do the same thing to mine, but i dont think i could afford it, and i know i dont have the skills to put that all together by myself.
I bet that sounds real nice, it sure looks like it rocks.

After all is said and done $3,000.00
Well worth the money, to be one of only a handful with the Eaton.
Hope to make some shows this summer. Still have a couple of projects to finish on the ride though.

Yeah but if you took one off an old car (or got a reman one) where would you get the rest of the parts? Correct me if I'm mistaken, but then you'd only have the base SC which is the same but nothing else. If you look at the Series I 3800s with the SC, you'll see the M62 setup on those cars looks nothing like the M62 kit for the 3400.

from what i know theres a set number out there...meaning its not made anymore. i think GM offered it through GM parts at one point but pulled them because of slow sales.
BTW very nice install. is this the one off the SCT concept car? i know its the same KIND, but the exact one? someone bought that...

Very nice. Who's Magnacharger kit was it? Was that Pat's (Schweppe) kit?

He's looking for the more "universal" type M62 core unit... there's someone making mount/intake adapter manifold setups for the 2.3/2.4.

Exactly. IIRC only about 2 dozen total, half of them were GM-owned. I see many of those being on the 3rd owner already.

Yeah it was Pat's kit......could not pass it up as he took great care of it and it does not have alot of miles on it.
Yes, there are only about 20 kits out there, this kit did come off of a concept car when Pat bought it a few years ago.
You can get a M62 unit but then you need all of the manufactured parts that do not come with it and magnachanger/eaton does not make those specific parts for the 3400 anymore.
This kit if maintained properly will last upwards of 100K.

Now, my question is this: is it the entire setup that is being discontinued or would I be able to take the cores that are still being manufactured and have the rest of the setup fabricated? And if so, how troublesome would that be?

Yea but you at least have a way to obtain the core (rotors, gears) should it wear out.

Very. The custom drive shaft will be the biggest obstacle. The input plenum "nose" won't be easy either.

Correct.
Yes, the drive shaft is the biggest hurdle.

(in case you havent noticed, I'm kind of a noob to this mod thing)
What kind of information could you offer that would help me locate an existing one (like, what should I be searching for, maybe specific SC model info)?

No worries, you just have to keep your eyes on the for sale boards here and GAGT.com, and ebay. They come up every once and a while. Now that I have one I would upgrade from my 99 to a 2005 GAGT just so I could keep the SC. With only so many kits produced they will definately keep their value when selling.

Yeah I think last count was at about 15 publicly released the others were on a few GM concept cars that are probably crushed by now.

9 times out of 10 that does not happen. The car...as a whole....gets crushed.

Seth is correct, one lap car, Pat told me about it.....anyways...yes the SC has had some hone work done to it to allow for better airflow.
