Not bad, if I say so myself (and I do), for 25,000 miles. Especially in Dallas, TX.

(BTW... how can I add more than one image to a post?)

man i wish mine was a 5spd...but i guess you had to special order those?

I didn't have to special order my GA as a 5 spd but if I wanted a 4 door 5 spd I did. The 4 door 5spds are rare, nice to see one, and the color is sweet!

redfire - in the earlier years (maybe 99-02ish) they had manuals as an option...but with the newer body 03+ you had to order them, the dealer i went to didnt have any manuals, and after 03 they didnt make 2 door SE's

Thanks to everyone for their replies! I'm not sure if my car was a special order or not... I do know it had been sitting on the lot for nine months before I bought it. I did the internet thing beforehand, and this was the only 5-speed to be had in my neck of Dallas (I would imagine a lot of buyers around here were turned off by the manual?) The color just made it that much harder to not write the check.
After almost two years, I still can't believe my luck in finding such a nice car, and one perfect for my needs. It's been a great car, and a super road vehicle. Not too flashy, not too quick... but just an all-around decent vehicle, for a good price, that occasionally turns heads and has never let me down.
(OK, one time the wipers gave out during a heavy rain... that wasn't fun. They started working a short time later, though, and the warranty covered a new wiring harness.)

And the interior... a leather steering wheel cover and aluminum pedals are the extent of the mods.

actually, the 5 speed came out in 2000 or 2001. in 99 they only had the 3400 + auto and the 2.4L + auto. most the 2.4L 5 speeds had manual windows too. (like monkthe1)
BTW thats an awesome car. that color was out in 2000 as a special edition, then discontinued, then brought back for 2004. it was an SE only color, and thats true, no 2 door SEs wer emade in 04.
if you are interested in speed, that engine has LOTS of potential. theres lots of aftermarket. its an early version of the motor used in the cobalt SS and the solstice.

Thanks for the info! I had wondered about the color ("Navy Blue"), as I've only seen two other GAs in the same color. Both cars were in Dallas, looked like '04s (no side cladding) and both with the same dealer tag on the back as my car.
One was identical to mine, complete with "Sun and Sound" package but with an auto. I saw the other in passing, but noted it had the regular SE wheels and no spoiler on the back. It looked sharp... I prefer the no-spoiler look... but the chrome wheels make the car. :-)
Like I said, the color was the clincher on the deal. The blue has a lot of "flop" in it -- in low light it looks black, and in indirect lighting it skews violet. Only in direct sunlight does the blue really come out. (You've also helped to explain why the parts department had to go back to a 2002 book to find matching touch-up paint.)
I've been looking at modifying the Ecotec after the warranty -- and payments -- expire. I know it has potential. If I were to modify anything performance-wise, though, the suspension would have to come first. The car cannot take a corner. The OEM Goodyear Eagles are partly to blame, I think, with the rest of the problem due to the rental-fleet-grade suspension on the SEs.
It's a minor complaint -- and its mostly offset by the car's GREAT highway ride, for its size -- but it bugs me every time I try to take an on-ramp at speed. My last car -- 2002 Focus hatchback -- handled much better.
