I recently had my car repainted. Here is a pic of my old car:
http://memimage.cardomain.net/member_images/9/web/729000-729999/729731_96_full.jpg
When I first posted pics of this car many people replied back how they didn’t like it. And, well, that hurt. But, you know what, they were right. Something just didn’t look right with it – I believe it was too “busy”. So, I asked the same artist, John Russel (Ithica, NY) to repaint my car. When he asked me why I wanted it repainted, I told him I wasn’t happy with the style of flames; which was the truth. John, accepting the positive criticism and took it upon himself to fly down to California to learn a new style of flames called “true fire.”
“True fire” flames were invented by Mike Lavalle's. Mike Lavalle's "true fire" flames have been featured in shows/publications such as "Overhaulin", "Rides", "Mens Journal", "Trucks", and "Import Tuners"; Clients include stars such as Kid Rock, Jesse James, and Jack Ozbourne. Iam so thrilled to have one of Mike Lavalle’s students paint my car.!
The first time I had my car painted I told John the style I was looking for and let him do the entire design. This time, I am the one who designed my car.
Now, some of you guys will not like the style I chose to go with, however, I hope all of you can appreciate the artwork in it. I chose this style because of my roots – Iam a true “metal head” through and through.
The actual artwork comes from several albums by the heavy metal group called King Diamond. The hood is from the album "Dont Break The Oath", the skulls on the sides are from the album "Melissa", and the mural on the side is a characture of the lead singer “King Diamond”. The interior dons a custom painted dash, a “King Diamond” skull hanging from the mirror and airbrushed skulls and flames shooting up the side of all four doors.
I call my car the “Necromancer”. A Necromancer is defined as one who controls the dead. I thought with all the skulls and what not it was a fitting name.
Heres a shot my the "New Necromancer":

I dont really like the kit at all to tell you the truth...but I've always liked the "true flame" paint in small doses. It looks great on bike tanks and stuff...dunno about having a ton of it on the car...i think that if it was just on the front and the hood and above the front tire wells, and the rest of the car was black, it would look awesome, but I just dont know about the design on the hood, the red in the back, and the face on the doors. It's art, and very talented at that...but I just think it's too much. Like I said, the front of the car, the hood, and above the tire well and it would look sick...kinda like your engine was exploding going down the road. But for me, it's just a little too busy...

Actually,
I appreciate the hard work and I know that painting cars is not an easy task. It longs much better than before. The body kit is not that bad. One thing I don't like are the lund hood scoops (fake). The fames look sweet :)
BTW: I live in Buffalo and I never seen your car on the road, what area are your from :???:

WOW that is one freaking wild paint job...
Actually I don't know what I think... I love it and hate it all at the same time... I think this is a good thing.
The interior freaking rocks.

Interesting paint. Not my taste, but I can appreciate the work that went into it. Should've painted the entire car black, though - it looks like you got tired halfway through and left the rear end stock.
That front bumper reminds me of a catfish for some reason, though. Paint the mesh black or something to minimize the visual size of those huge holes. And the spoiler doesn't really fit the rest of the car for some reason.

Actually the car was all black last year. The red on the rear is new paint. The first mural didn't photograph well, there was so much going in the paint that you had to look at it one square foot at a time. It always drew a crowd where ever we went.
I like the new paint, the (true flames) are a big improvement over last years flames. I like Foxy's idea of toning down the mesh. Dark silver, gray or black mesh would blend in more.

i hate the kit. thats me.
the paint though. when i saw the view from the front angle, i thought the same as the first... just to busy... then i saw the side shot..... the flames look true (go figure) but it just looks nice! and although its not something i would do with my car, i do like it (Even with the kit) its truely one of a kind grand am! Congrats :)

Hope you don't mind but I have a thing about chrome rims.
Personally I thing brighter rims set it off a lot better.
I like this look a lot.

Well as long as you like it...
I'm sorry but you have all that nice and expensive work done but these cheep and tacky stick on hood scoops. Not a quality aspect of a custom ride IMO.

Thanks for all the feedback guyz. Let me address a couple of things. When I do so, you are going to start to notice a similar theme and that’s me being “opportunistic” or thrifty”.
First, the kit:

In a perfect world, I would LOVE to have an AED kit but I simply cant afford it. I picked up the AAS kit for $100 – a deal I just couldn’t pass up. I then had friends help me do all the repairs to the kit because it was in really bad shape.
The spoiler:

I don’t like any other wing on the market but the AED wing, but, once again, I cant afford it. I picked up my wing for just $100; I think it looks MUCH better then stock.
The Scoops:

I would want nothing more then to have a better hood but, yup, you guessed it, I simply cant afford it at this time. I realize the scoops are looked down upon, but I think with the paint job they look great! Not as good as they would with a more expensive hood, but, rather better then they would on a stock hood w/o scoops.
Misc. Feedback:

Actualy, the stock color is black not red.

I like the black rims MUCH better but thanks for the feedback.

Great suggestion – I just might do that!
In Closing, let may start by saying that I do care what others think about my car for I value other peoples opinions. However, I do not value them over my own. When I am designing my car I have two goals (1) to be original and (2) to fit my character. I love heavy Metal and this car SCREAMS it!
Most people assume I put allot of cash into this car; that’s far from the truth. My original paint job was free (worked out in a trade). I decided to get the car repainted due to an accident. That’s when I saw an opportunity to make the car more original and to my flavor. The first job was designed by the artist with a style I chose. The second job was completely designed by me – every inch of it; this car is me!
So, how much money have I put into the car? Kit = $100, Wing = $100, Paint = $1800, Rims = $1400, scoops = $30, Car Seats (anather great deal) = $200; for a total of about $3,630. Not nearly as much as most people would assume.
My Ideal car would have an SCT hood, an AED kit, and an AED spoiler; the paint job would be the same! But, I cant afford all of that so I have to make do with what I can get through good deals.
Thanks again for all the feedback

Holy cow that was one heck of a good deal for that paint job.
Just a plain paint change solid color would cost me 3000 at the least.
You def got some good money savings for sure.

not my taste but hot none the less...that skull on your front fender is f*cking awesome!

I would have did without the face on the door, and whatever that is on the hood...Keep all the skulls the same, i like the fender one, it doesn't loook bad blending in with the flames, but the others stick out to much IMO
but for 1800? Good deal :D

DBTO is one of my favorite albums of all time. King's vocals are amazing on it, as is the creapy intro to the title track. Wow man. It's nice to see another fellow on a board like this with a (IMO) great taste in music. I'm definitly digging the spot on 'puppet master' face on the side too. Absolutly sick paint job man. I'd kill a man to have that on my car.

the time and effort that went into the airbrushing i respect highly of, and it DOES look better then the previous design. but i agree with the others on the kit and spoiler. but that's just me :)

I just think the flat stock hood wouldn't distract your eyes from the paint work like those scoops do. For doing murals like that, flat panels are always best.

I love the flames n the rims. Much more eye friendly than ur previous design. I've never liked the AAS kit, but maybe with some toned down mesh it'll look a lot better.
