What kinda car did they come off of?
red98grandamse

Theyre the m3 mirrors off an accord, I had them on the car before, then took them off for the winter and im working on getting them to fit better. Ive changed the angle on them so they dont sit as high, and completely fiberglassed them... at the moment theyre only in primer, but when done theyll be black anyways.

I'm gonna say red.
Paul. I have to mention something, and I don't want to insult you in the least.
You mentioned how you couldn't believe you got such a noob question about the hood. I can understand why you would be kinda pissed by that. And it would have pissed me off to the bone, as well.
However. I can understand the question to a certain degree. And I stress "certain degree."
You see, ever since you unveiled that sexy hood, I've wondered why you didn't go with a cleaner look on the air brushing.
For example. The way you have things now, it kinda looks cloudy. In pictures...it could be mistaken for a photochop. Remember...This is just a thought. I'm not trying to piss anybody off. And I already know how much you put in to your car, so I don't need others coming down on me, or reminding me of that fact.
Here is what I mean. (This was a quick PS job)
The way you have it now.

Don't worry, I wouldn't get mad over that. lol.
When my hood went into the shop, the owner and I talked about paint schemes for over an hour before I decided on what I wanted. So, basically, the locations of the black are where I specified, but I left the fading aspect of the black up to them. Actually, if i were to have it redone, I would opt for more black near the scoop opening myself.
plus he didnt ask if it was a photoshop, he asked if i had the hood painted to look like i had scoops. Which, maybe from the straight on angle i can almost see that if one wasnt observant enough to give it more than a 2 second glance, but theres obviously a crease up the center of the hood where theres a low point from the scoops.

I think the mirrors would look badass if they didnt have the posts, if the glass housing was flush with the triangular mounting point so they look more aerodynamic (I got this idea from auto modellista, since the 'aero' mirrors on the 300zx and other cars looks pretty badass)
To me smaller mirrors look wayyy better, and seeing my car without mirrors on it at all a couple of times convinced me that huge mirrors take away from the overall hottness of the 96-98 GAs
Also, get rid of that SE chrome trim! :poke: You aren't an SE anymore, try and act like it :poke:
red98grandamse
05-20-2006, 07:26 PM
I had the trim vinyled over forever, but took it off because I had to redo it. Then I opted to leave it to see how it would look tied in with the lip on the rims... and now I kinda like it like that.:P

Glad you are open minded. I try not to piss anybody off ...if I can help it. For me....Showing respect to fellow posters is job one.
I think it was you that said something like this. " I'm a nice guy, until you give me reason not to be" (I think you said something like that.)
In any case...I'm the same way.
Anyway...I'm rambling for no good reason. Just thought I'd ask why you chose that particular effect on your hood.
Thanks for the reply.
Now...back on topic.

theres a topic? lol...wait its my thread, i can the "topic" to be whatever cant i? :D
But yea, I think i did say something about being nice until pissed off. Also maybe its jut me, but I thought i was somewhat close to nice above. I've certainly said much worse (multiple times tonight even). The particularpost above was more me being in shock that it could possibly look painted. that was much more tha case than me being angry.

Unique, many people have the AED hood and not many have my hood ;)
In the end, it all deals with taste and personal appearence

I have no idea if nate still does or not. He's got some awesome ideas though, he and I sat down for about an hour talking about ideas of what to do next as well as how to make the hood flow the best.
I was going to make a hood this winter, but a nice one just fell into my lap, and i figured the cost would be about the same:) I absolutely hate the stock 4th gen GA mirrors, i "need" to do something about it, lol. and unmodified m3s don't fit as well as Id like.

Since the semester is over, I'm free anytime I want. I'm planning on doing alot of shows this year. I've never entered my car in any, so I think I'm just entering in local ones. I've got way too much work to do to make the car presentable for any kind of bigger show. Being my caily driver, its really hard to keep it in the condition it ought to be in, especially with all the road work around here:(

I personally think the black mirrors make the car look a lot more "sporty"... while matching the mirrors to the car in red, give me more of a "luxury" perspective. It depends on the look you are going for, I guess... and I like the black.
