Well there's an issue with the back sc/t bumper not fitting right on the car so that's still at the body shop, I've got to take it back next week to have the door moldings painted and figure out a way to work out the back bumper.

But for now, here are some pics:

You could do what GTLUVA did with the rear. She had them cut it in two and then mold a piece in between. Seemed to work out well. I plan on doing that eventually.

why not cut the corner parts off the rear and have them molded to the bumper? i dont think you need the entire piece. thats probably what ill do when/if i get the SCT kit.

I thought of that too, the body shop guy said that with the flexing of the bumper it would break the molding between because the bumper is made from a rubber or something like that I believe.

I dunno he might be full of :shit:

no, he is right, sooner or later it will crack.

VanishingImage
05-22-2006, 01:38 PM
if the molding can be reinforced then it won't crack, just depends on how much flexing it actually does when the car is moving. Using some body epoxy then it shouldn't crack. When I had to redo my whole passenger side, front bumper, side skirt I had to use some kitty hair/tiger hair and its been almost a whole year through a good change of temperatures since I driver the car year round its all held up and no sign of stress cracks or spider cracks in the paint. If the shop knows what they are doing then it should hold up,if they don't feel comfortable doing it then take it somewhere else.

When you start moulding things on bumper covers, they WILL crack, does not matter how it is done, it will happen, a body shop(a good one atleast) goes for a repair that will outlast the car, not something that will hold for a few years. and thats what happens, I'm not a fan of moulding parts onto the body that werent originally part of the body.

Kyle, what they COULD do is stretch it like Rennation had done to his. his was a tight fit as well and the body shop heated it and stretched it. it cam e out pretty darn good too

Looks good, Although, I think it needs a drop to eliminate some wheel gap. And maybe some wider tires.

Are they 17s now? if thats the case, Go with 18s, maybe get some wheels that help out with the stance. 077s seem to be the best about that. If not check the offset and see if wheels like my bullet wheels will fit the GA's. I bet that would look just awesome.

not 100% true. My friends dad shop uses sheet metal when he molds things. He rivets the metal to both fender and bumper where they meet up on the sides, grinds the rivets down some then uses epoxy then kitty/tiger hair on top. He garuntees no cracks,so far hes done over 20 cars, not a single one has come back. If its done right it won't crack, over several years yes it might but when peope shell out thousands of dollars for a paint job or a custom mold job it better be done right

Thanks everyone. Wow I've gotten such mixed responses about my rims. On this board a majority of the people give me over the top compliments (people sending me PMs just to tell me they loved the rims and want to know where to buy them.) On other boards I have people calling me rice because of them

At any rate, the rims will be gone in a couple weeks/months. These are currently #1 on my list, however that might change by the time I actually order the rims
