Ok Boys and Gals. I have decided.
I have wanted boost for a while now, always been leaning towards the supercharger but, i think the turbo is going to be the way to go. With all this talk of lag i got a little concerned but with the right tuning it should not be a huge issue.
Just from all the problems i have heard about the rsm supercharger i have been researching turbos. I now believe its the way to go.
Hope to order the turbo by early next month and installation shortly there after. And yes i will post lots of pics guys.
This is just my heads up for whats to come.
By the way, here is the turbo im getting.

I'll be curious to see how the transmission holds up. Keep us updated.

That's sweet man! I'd look into getting the tranny rebuilt or swapping in a beefed up 5 speed :)

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news.. but I don't think that kit is in production anymore, those guys were out of the game along time ago. 2 people have their kits, LordNor had one on GAGT but he sold it to someone else, and Phantom505, also on GAGT. Actually I think the car on that site is Phantom's.
They had a deal with DHP for the tuning, but IIRC from reading elsewhere, they didn't come through on their end.
Head to DPP... that kit has already been proven by Todd.

Haha, I think you mean donkeypunchperformance.com, and DHP stands for digitalhorsepower which is a different company. I think that dpp has turbo kits but I havnt been to that site in a while.

Well aint this all a kick in the teath. so if this kit has stopped production is there any other 3.4l specific turbo out there?
I dont want to mess around with waste gates and all that other $hit i know nothing about to build a custom setup. And from what ive heard you gota know what your doing or lag is a big problem.
But i need something cause i have the money and i want boost but i dont want the rsm Supercharger.
Thanks in advance for the feedback.

So anyone know where to get a turbo kit?

I know this is off topic for your thread. I gave up looking or playing with the idea of adding a Turbo or Supercharger to the 3400 V6. There isn't a large enough market (we all know better) for this application so most companies don't bother putting in the R & D to develop these types of units.
The cost associated installing a TURBO/SUPERCHARGE versus the amount of HP you get out of it in return are not worth it IMO. You would need to modify your tranmission to handle the additional torque/HP as I beleive the stock GA tranny only is rated to 210 ft torque (excuse the nubness). The overall cost associated with doing all this is well over the $4,000 price tage just for the KIT's I have seen for the Grand Am. To truly benefit from all that additional power your getting, the 3400 would need to be up graded all the way around. All that effort and money to get what a 260 HP (using RSM's info) at the fly wheel? BAH! No way!
I am saving to drop a different engine into my Grand Am. I love the Grand Am but, the cost associated with installing a custom engine is about half the price of just buying a GTO. Then again I like the way the GA looks so, what is a GA Geek to do? Buy a 400 HP GTO for $30K, or install a custom 303 HP V8 for $10-15k into my GAGT? The torment of fun sure kills the pocket book. Here is what I was looking at eventually buying and having someone install. God knows I couldn't do all that engine work (don't know If I would want to even if I could).

Just a thought. I personally don't like the 3.4 L but, until I save up $10K, it will have to do. Just think of the hard on you would get smoking some nub with that lovely LS4 lol.

The only complete kit you can purchase right now as far as I know is the DPP one. If you have the time and tools you can also do your own like Todd did... Search for posts by "tejohnson" and his web site, he has documented his build quite nicely and the foundation is there to follow along.

...are you incapable of posting without making the text bold or a different color?
Anyways, swapping in a V8 or a 3.8V6 or any other non-GA engine will cost you just as much as putting a custom made turbo/supercharger kit on a 3400.

Why must everyone whine about the my text? I can understand the colors but now your complaining about it being bold? Who cares? Maybe I have horrible vision and it helps me see the post better. Or maybe I do it because that is my style on every forum I have been a member of since god knows when. If you do care, I don't. You do your thing and let me do mine, k, thanks.

Yes, you can actually make a pretty effective setup on your own. DPP may not be making the "kits" anymore since Jeremy is a bit overwhelmed in his personal life... Once I get my latest changes wrapped up, I may see what I can do to give him a hand on building, and stocking, the hardest part of the setup: exhaust manifolds
The transmission is always gonna be a challenge, but there are folks experimenting with swapping in manuals, or the 65HD. Another alternative would be to beef up your stock 45e, and it can be done.
