This group has been a great source of information for all of us. In the problem section, a lot of people are hampered by not having the right tools. Could the club invest in those infrequently used items and do a small fee loanout. They could paypal a deposit fee and when the tool was returned, they would get most of their money returned.
Tools such as scan reader, mutimeter, spring compressors and hub socket.

why not just go to an autoparts store and rent them for a free core return charge?

Not everybody has access to a loaner/rental program. Sometimes you have to buy the parts from them and they might not be the best quality. Some people don't have space to store their collection of tools so they don't / cannot invest in seldom used tools. I just used a GM window crank spring tools that I've had but haven't used in more years that you and MOST of the people in the group have been alive.

the Idea sounds realy good in concept but I could see alot of problems coming from it. Broken tools, the cost of shipping tools from 1 location to another, waiting for your tools to clear the border customes every time. I think it would be more of a headache then what it was worth.

Trust me thoe, I have been in your situation when your looking at the haynes and its like " please use GMtool 1856284" and your siting there scratching your head.

My only saving grace it that I have friends that work for pontiac and I can borrow the tools I need over the weekends when there closed.
