Well my car is acting up more and more each day so I am going to give it the boot this summer. I am up between two cars right now. They are the Cobalt SS/SC and the Ion Redline. A very hard decision. And I am in no way saying that Grand Ams are bad, since I had a blast with my car.

IMO the Ion Redline looks a little better on the outside than the Cobalt SS but the Cobalt's interior wins hands down compared to the weirdo Saturn interior. Cobalt interior is nothing great either though, well except the seats and extra SS stuff. Overall, I'd say I like the Cobalt better. Just my quick $0.02 about the two though...

Thanks for your input, yea the cobalts interior just feels more like a $22K car.

The Cobalt SS/SC has a spoiler that I would hang myself on. The Ion REdline is slightyl more subtle.

The Ion Redline interior is also a little better, in my opinion.

you will find pro and con sites about every car on the market plain and simple, the ecotec engine is one of the best engines around expeically for a 4 cylinder, and that 2.0 is damn strong, my friend has an 04 with close to 80k on it already and never once goes to the dealer for repairs, and thats the first year they were in production...

saturn is the first to use the delta platform, saturn was the first to use the ecotec motor in the US, saturn was the first to supercharge a 4 cylinder, and chevy stole it, when I Think of Cobalt SS i think of an Ion Knockoff with a Honda Civic front end of sorts...and a ferrari or sorts real end, and a huge butt

Then you can say that I like big butts, and I just feel that I am putting my money somewhere better with the Cobalt, since it feels better put together. And Im not saying the Redline is junk, the are both equally a blast to drive.

Chevy didnt steal anything... GM took part (as well as other companies, Im sure) in the design and production of the 2.2 n/a Ecotec engines, the 2.0L supercharged/turbocharged Ecotec engines, and the 2.4L VVT Ecotec engines... Also, if I recall correctly the SAAB 9-3t beat saturn to the punch of having the first boosted eco engine. The ecotec engine was developed to be used in most of GMs many companies (SAAB, Chevy, Pontiac, Saturn, Opel (I think!))

EDIT: Also, back in the day 1st generation MR-2s had the option of a supercharged I-4 toyota engine, it was widely acclaimed and was produced far before Saturn was ever thought of. They managed to shove a roots-type blower on the intake side of the engine, and STILL have enough room in that tiny car for an intercooler and piping.
